Chapter 312

~Dristan’s POV~

"Remind me again why we are letting teenage hormones decide the fate of the werewolf kingdom?" Luna Diamond scoffed, arms crossed as she eyed each of us in turn.

"Mum," Kai said again, trying to be patient. "We’re being serious here."

"And so are your fathers," Luna Crystal cut in sharply, her cool expression betraying nothing of sympathy.

Xade’s shoulders slouched. "Mother..."

"Shh," she shut him down smoothly, turning to Alpha Xavier with a smile. "Forgive your son. Forgive them all. Just give them some time, and all this nonsense will pass."

"Exactly. Luna Crystal is right," Luna Diamond chimed in, turning to face our fathers with that ever-graceful poise of hers, expecting them to agree. "Let them enjoy their teenage hormonal stage and have fun. It’s just youthful rebellion. No need to treat this like an uprising."

"Besides," Luna Aurora added, stepping forward, "you all stormed out of the Alpha Summit like a pack of rogue bulls. The guests are worried, murmuring among themselves. We don’t want to cause a scandal, do we? Please, Alphas, you must go and calm them down."

"Pacify their curiosity and give them something else to whisper about," Luna Crystal agreed.

"Fine. As you wish," my father, Alpha Drakar, said at last, giving Luna Diamond a tight-lipped smile. His eyes, however, landed squarely on me with a silent warning. "This discussion isn’t over."

And just like that, all three Lunas turned, looking regal and commanding, leading the Alpha Kings out of the room.

The door clicked shut behind them, and silence wrapped around us.

"They really think our feelings for Valerie are some hormonal phase," Axel muttered bitterly, breaking the silence.

"And they believe we’ll just... forget her?" Xade asked, pacing a little.

"We’re not telling her anything," Kai said firmly. "Not yet. She doesn’t need to know about the betrothals."

"What if the rumours reach her?" Axel asked. "You know the court is full of whispering tongues."

"We deny it. All of it," Kai said. "Lie through our teeth if we have to. Protecting her is the priority until we can break off the brothel arrangement."

"Didn’t our mothers make sure our fathers wouldn’t do anything?" Axel pressed. "They practically begged them to back down."

"Keep deceiving yourself," I said with a bitter laugh. "If there’s one thing I know about my father, it’s that he won’t back down. He’s ruthless."

Xade turned to me. "What do you mean?"

"I mean, the last time he got wind of Valerie, I downplayed it and acted like she was nothing, just to get him off my back. I thought he’d forget about her." I paused, letting the weight of my words hang. "Instead, he asked me flat out—’If she’s nothing, then you won’t mind me killing her.’"

The others stared at me in shock.

"I had to act like I didn’t care. And still... they attacked her. That won’t happen again. I’d protect her with all of me."

"She’s our mate too," Kai said quietly. "And we protect our mate."

"Good," I replied. "No slacking. Not this time."

"Right back at you, Dristan," Xade nodded. "Anyway, I’m done with this party."

"Same," Axel muttered, straightening his navy-blue suit with an annoyed grunt.

"I’ve got a mate waiting for me," Kai said with a smirk.

"And a betrothed outside that door," I muttered, happy to ruin his fun.

"Oh well... so do you all," Kai retorted dryly.

We all chuckled, but something unspoken passed between us—defiance, loyalty, and something more primal.

"It’s been a while," I said, eyes flickering between them. "What say you guys? We ditch the summit and go for drinks? Like old times, just us. No girls. No politics."

There was a pause. Then nods .

"Sure thing," Axel grinned.

"We can’t return home looking this sour," Xade added. "Valerie would sniff us out in a heartbeat."

"All we need is to look a little high," Kai chuckled.

"Classic," I said. "Let’s go then."
