Chapter 330: The Queen’s Visit

Chapter 330

~Valerie’s POV~

I had no idea what I was going to say to her. My lips parted, but no sound came out. My chest tightened with every passing second, my thoughts scrambling for an excuse, an answer, anything that wouldn’t get me killed—or worse.

But before I could even attempt to respond, I felt them.

Four unique scents, rich and intoxicating, slammed into me like a tidal wave.

Absolute raw power, domination and possession.

My knees nearly buckled under the sudden weight of their auras as they crashed into the hallway.

"I smell trouble," Solstice murmured faintly beside me, even though royalty was here.

Trouble? That was putting it mildly.

I turned my head slowly, and there they were—my mates.

Every muscle in my body tensed. Their gazes locked on me instantly, and I could feel the simmering heat of the mate bond thrumming beneath my skin.

"Answer me, young lady."

The Lycan Queen’s sweet voice snapped my attention back to her.

Her presence alone was suffocating, commanding, elegant, and lethal. She tilted her head, assessing me with an intensity that made me want to shrink into the floor.

I didn’t want her to recognise me or anything because, from what I remember, she knew my parents.

Let her just think we had a slight resemblance, and that’s all.

"Or..." her eyes narrowed slightly, "are my sons not good enough for you?"

The hallway went dead silent. My heart stopped. I wasn’t seeking trouble.

"I.. Your Majesty, I..." My voice trembled before I could rein it in.

A ripple of gasps followed, like a wave sweeping through the crowd gathered around us. That’s when it hit me.

They knew or at least... they suspected who she was now.

Before I could process any of it, shadows surged across the hallway floor, curling around me like living smoke.

Panic rose in my chest, but before I could move or speak, the Queen lifted her chin slightly, her eyes glinting with understanding.

"Oh," she said softly, almost to herself, "I see."

And just like that, my entire world tilted on its axis.

The possessive energy rolling off my mates was impossible to ignore now. They were silently claiming me.

Tsk, like they had the right to do so after what happened yesterday.

My chest rose and fell rapidly, trying to draw breath into lungs that refused to cooperate. I didn’t need her to spell it out for me.

She knew.

"No wonder," she murmured finally, a knowing smirk tugging at her lips. Then her gaze sharpened, pinning me in place like prey beneath a predator’s claws.

"My sons didn’t tell me. Well, not that it changes anything, though."

I swallowed hard, my nails digging crescents into my palms.

"You are my sons’ mate," she said firmly, each word laced with authority that brooked no argument. "You should date them. I already want you to be a part of my family, Valerie Nightshade."

My heart skipped a beat when she drew my name like that as though she suspected something. It made my mouth parched.

"And ours, Your Majesty," Dristan’s deep voice cut in before I could even breathe.

The hallway seemed to shrink around me as the heat of their combined stares suffocated me further.

Astra shifted uneasily under my skin, caught between the desperate need to run, take me away from there, and the magnetic pull of the bond.

And just when I thought I’d have to answer her—salvation.

The shrill clang of the school bell cut through the tension.

I exhaled sharply, relief flooding my system in a rush so strong my knees nearly gave out.

But before I could even hope to escape, the speakers overhead blared loudly.

"Everyone, head to class immediately. We will be holding our second assessment right now."

The words were like a punch to my brain.

"Or it is a cover-up. She needs the students to be preoccupied."
