My Maternity Records Belong to Another Woman novel Chapter 14

Chapter 14

Matthew had sat vigil outside the apartment building all night.

The moment he saw Evelyn push open the door to the building, he shot up and clutched her wrist

tightly.

Before she could react, he yanked her into a black sedan parked by the curb with a sudden force.

The car door slammed shut behind them. Matthew loomed over her, his presence suffocating. The eyes that once drew her in were now bloodshot. His voice was hoarse.

Evelyn, we haven’t divorced. Even if you’ve immigrated, you’re still my wife!

Pressed against the door, Evelyn leaned away, guarded. What do you want?

Matthew froze for a second. The wariness in her eyes pierced straight through him.

He reached out, trying to touch her face, but she turned away. Flustered, he pulled a stack of documents from inside his jacket.

I’ve got the paternity test and all the proof that Lila forged the records. Kent isn’t my son. Evelyn,

she lied to me

))

So what?Evelyn pulled a yellowed document from her bag and threw it onto his lap. Mr.

Roscente, you remember the prenup we signed before our wedding, don’t you?

If you ever cheated, the marriage would be automatically terminated. From the moment you got involved with Lila, the agreement took effect. Our marriage ended a long time ago.

Matthew’s hands trembled as he grabbed the document. He had completely forgotten the

agreement he once insisted on to protect her.

Now it had come back to stab him in the heart.

I didn’t know she faked the medical recordsShe said she was dying and just wanted to leave

behind a child

I’m not interested in your excuses,Evelyn cut him off. Her hand gripped the door handle.

Morning light streamed through the window, casting shadows from her lashes that hid every trace

of emotion.

Matthew, you didn’t believe a word I said. You truly thought I would frame Lila, even kidnap her.

And now you’re here, pretending to be the loving husband?

Her words sliced straight into his chest. He lunged forward and grabbed her shoulders.

There was an air cushion under the window that day! I didn’t think you’d be in danger

Enough!Evelyn’s voice suddenly rose. Her eyes shimmered with fury. You always have a reason. You never truly admit your faults!

She shoved him hard. The cold air rushed in as she opened the car door, sweeping away what little warmth remained.

Matthew started after her, but a gray car pulled up just then and parked steadily nearby.

Simon rolled down the window. His gaze moved calmly between the two of them before settling on Evelyn. Do you need help?
