"It's not hard to make a call, but I was afraid you would be too busy to answer. After all..." Celeste paused for a moment and said lightly, "You didn't even have time to say goodbye when he left."
Liam had no response.
After a while, he said, "Sydney got injured."
Sydney was injured, and he was worried, so he rushed her to the hospital without telling Celeste.
"Oh," Celeste said quietly, "Is she alright?"
Her tone was sharp, making Liam frown.
"Celeste, do you have to be so sarcastic?" Liam asked.
"I'm just asking casually. Why are you so nervous? It's not like if I say she's fine, she'll be fine." Celeste finished speaking and walked past Liam.
Liam watched her retreating figure for a few seconds before catching up with her.
Celeste sat cross-legged on the sofa, eating an apple and browsing her iPad.
Her phone was linked to her tablet, so she could check her messages on it now that her phone was broken.
Hearing Liam's footsteps, she ignored him and continued checking her emails.
Liam reached out and touched the gown on the sofa, suddenly asking, "Who gave you this dress?"
"The hotel manager." Celeste said.
Liam obviously didn't believe her. "Why would the hotel manager give you a dress?"
Celeste couldn't be bothered to answer that question.
She was about to lose her temper when Liam handed her the phone, "Grandma wants to talk to you."
Celeste's anger vanished instantly. She took the phone and whispered, "Grandma."
Liam was stunned.
"Letti, why haven't you been visiting me lately? Sugar has been missing you. She hasn't even been eating her apples." Grandma said.
Sugar was a horse owned by the old lady. She was nearly six feet tall, with shiny dark hair and strong muscles. The only flaw was that she was blind in her left eye. Otherwise, she would have been a champion horse.
The old lady had traveled a lot when she was young and had a particular fondness for spirited horses.
A few years ago, when the old lady went overseas to watch horse racing, she bumped into Sugar by chance. At that time, this little guy was only half a year old. Due to the mistake of the previous caretaker, its left eye was injured, making it unable to participate in races, so it was sold to a farm.
However, Sugar had a fiery temper and didn't like to be disciplined. The farm owner lacked experience in training horses, so they would whip it at the drop of a hat.
