With a frown on his face, he emerged with the intent to reprimand her, only to find Celeste in the midst of changing her dress in the living room.
The full-length mirror in the living room was the largest and better than the one in the bedroom. The living room's lighting was also closer to natural light, making the reflection more accurate.
At least twenty outfits were piled on the sofa, with those she had discarded presumably being the ones she had already tried on but found unsatisfactory.
Usually, Celeste dressed quite modestly. Even when wearing dresses, she preferred necklines higher than her collarbone. But now, she found these styles unsatisfactory.
She twirled around in front of the mirror, but eventually she disrobed.
Her waistline was quite stunning, and as she undressed, her slender midriff was revealed. Her legs, long and straight, were beautifully contoured, giving her an ethereal appeal like a captivating fairy.
Leaning against the railing of the second floor, Liam sipped his coffee nonchalantly, unapologetically enjoying the scenery below.
Celeste received a call from Trisha Colton.
"I'm in the middle of changing. I'm attending a jewelry exhibition tonight," she said, flipping through her pile of clothes with a slight irritation, "I can't seem to find anything suitable to wear."
Liam wondered, could all these clothes truly be unsuitable?
"Alright, see you tomorrow then, yes, okay."
After hanging up, she suddenly spotted a white dress among the heap of clothes.
Liam found it familiar, and as she put it on, his expression involuntarily darkened.
"This is my house, I can stand wherever I please," Liam retorted.
Celeste managed to spit out, "How can you have the nerve to call yourself human?" She wanted to add: 'You'd be better suited as a fox!' Liam seemed to anticipate her next words, giving her a cold stare, "What did you say?" Celeste, seething with anger, fell silent.
Right at that moment, the doorbell rang. Liam remained still like a statue. Celeste had no choice but to open the door in her dirty dress. She thought it was Nicolas coming, but to her surprise, it was Sienna Reed. "Grandma? What are you doing here?" Celeste hurriedly let the old lady in.
As Grandma walked in, she said, "Your mom told me Liam wasn't feeling well, so he took a leave. I thought I'd come check on him." Just as she said that, she saw Liam standing in the living room, perfectly healthy with a cup of coffee in his hand. The old lady paused and asked, "So, what ails you?"
Celeste was about to speak, but Liam nonchalantly replied, "Stomach-ache, same old problem."
Celeste had no choice but to keep quiet.
