Never Forgive Never Forget (Celeste and Philip) novel Chapter 175

Celeste's lips twitched.

What a narcissist.

When did I ever say I was picking out clothes for him?

She shot him a frosty glare. "There are mirrors everywhere in this place—maybe take a good look at yourself and remember who you are and where you stand."

"I'm shopping for shirts for my boyfriend. What does that have to do with you?"

As Celeste's gaze slid past him, she spotted a shirt that caught her eye—stylish and sharp. With Alfred's broad shoulders and trim waist, it would look amazing on him.

Without another glance at Philip, she brushed past, bumping his shoulder on her way to the rack.

Philip staggered, the spark in his eyes instantly snuffed out.

Just as Celeste reached for the shirt, Viola swooped in and snatched it from under her hand.

"Looks like we have similar taste, Celeste! What a coincidence. I was eyeing this one for Philip—I think it would suit him perfectly."

Celeste's hand froze midair. The shirt she'd thought was quite nice suddenly seemed cheap and unappealing, simply because it was now associated with Philip.

"If it's good enough for Philip, then it's probably a bit beneath my boyfriend. Go ahead, it's all yours."

She spun around and walked away.

Viola ground her teeth in frustration but couldn't make a scene in the boutique. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Celeste showing interest in another shirt. With a huff, she hurried over and snatched that one too.

"This one's great for Philip as well! Philip, come try it on. If it looks good, I'll buy it for you."

She beamed, holding out the shirt to Philip like she'd just won a prize.

Celeste let out a soft, amused laugh and wandered off to browse the other shirts.

Viola heard her and assumed she was being mocked, her irritation rising. But then she remembered: she'd managed to snatch up everything Celeste liked before she could. That thought alone filled her with smug satisfaction.
