Geoffrey didn’t answer. For him, getting anything was as easy as snapping his fingers.

Maureen didn’t press further. She settled onto the warm sofa, gazing at the familiar surroundings with nothing but nostalgia in her eyes.

“If you like this place, we’ll live here from now on.

Geoffrey said.

Maureen realized he’d misunderstood.

For someone who’d never been loved by her mother growing up, she actually hated this place.

Though her father treated her well, he spent most of his time working.

When her father left home, she’d stay here watching her mother and younger brother share warm moments–like an outsider.

“I don’t want to live here.”

Geoffrey fell silent.

Maureen looked at him: “You should return this house to Andrea.”

“We’d better keep things clear–cut between us.”

Katherine had filed divorce papers two days ago. Geoffrey would learn about it soon enough.

Maureen stood up: “If there’s nothing else, I’m going to Katherine’s place today.”

Without waiting for Geoffrey’s response, she threw on her coat and walked out.

Outside was bitterly cold.

Geoffrey didn’t stop her from leaving, just ordered someone to follow her with strict instructions: she wasn’t to escape.

Maureen had no intention of running. She was simply waiting to face Geoffrey in court.

Maureen took a car to Katherine’s rented apartment, where Katherine was preparing various lawsuit materials, and Maureen also had someone send her all the documents about her illness and hospitalization from abroad.

“Did the court approve it?”

Maureen asked.

“Yes, it just passed review. Geoffrey should receive it tonight,”

Katherine replied.

“Then I won’t go back tonight,”

Maureen said.

Maureen picked up Katherine’s blanket and covered her legs with it.

Katherine was a bit worried about her: “If you don’t go back tonight, will Geoffrey lose his temper?”

“It would be best if he does. Do you have a recording device here?”

Maureen asked.

Katherine immediately understood: “Of course, as a lawyer, how could I not have one?”

She brought a small brooch and pinned it on Maureen’s clothes.

“If he dares to do anything bad, just press here and it will record.”

Maureen nodded: “Okay.”

Meanwhile, after Maureen went to Katherine’s place, Geoffrey had no heart to do anything.

For some reason, he found that Maureen, who used to be easy to please, had changed. No matter what he did, she didn’t care.

His eyes tightened as he flipped through, discovering Maureen was suing for divorce!

His throat tightened, cold fury darkening his deep–set eyes.

“When did this happen?”

“The court sent it this afternoon.”

Wayne replied.

Geoffrey tossed the petition into the shredder, snorting coldly. “So that’s why she came back with me.”

“Suing for divorce?

!”

“Who does she think she is!”

Geoffrey grabbed his phone to call Maureen, his hand slightly trembling.

The line connected quickly.

“You’re filing for divorce?”

Geoffrey cut straight to the point.

“Yes.”

Maureen didn’t deny it. “I came back to end our marriage.”

“Don’t worry–I want nothing from you.”

Maureen added firmly: “The court accepted it. I won’t return to Pearl after today.”

Maureen hung up immediately after speaking.

On the other end, Geoffrey almost smashed his phone in rage.
