Chapter305
Where you’d catch us?”
Knowing he’d crossed the line, Geoffrey stayed silent.
Maureen’s hand still trembled with rage.
“Did you forget my words?
I’m sheltering you temporarily. We’re still divorcing. What gives you the right to spy on me?”
Geoffrey heard her words and gave up completely. He realized how ridiculous it was to confront Maureen with those photos without investigating first.
He’d clearly sensed her softening toward him recently.
Shedding his usual arrogance, Geoffrey softened his voice, trying to sound gentle. “I didn’t have anyone follow you. They’re just protecting you.”
“Wayne mentioned you’d had a few accidents before. I worry about your safety.”
Maureen wouldn’t be won over so easily.
“Protection requires secretly taking photos?
Maybe I should have someone ‘protect‘ you the same way. How’s that?”
Geoffrey choked on his words.
Somehow, the wife who used to be so easy to handle now left him utterly helpless.
“Sleep downstairs tonight.”
Maureen turned away, marched to the bedroom, and slammed the door shut with a loud Bang!
This was the first time Geoffrey got kicked out of his own bedroom.
Knowing he was at fault, he obediently settled down outside.
Early the next morning, the domestic staff saw Geoffrey sleeping on the sofa for the first time.
Geoffrey heard the noise and immediately opened his eyes: “Reenie.”

“Sir, it’s me. Madam hasn’t woken up yet.”
The maid answered.
Geoffrey slightly frowned: “Got it. Leave now. Don’t come over these days unless I ask.”
Having gotten used to life in Small Town, he disliked having too many servants.
“Yes.”
The maid cautiously left and closed the door.
Woken by the disturbance, Geoffrey lost all drowsiness and waited for Maureen to rise.
Since getting pregnant, Maureen slept deeply and woke late every day.

After spending yesterday afternoon helping Elizabeth pick things out, she didn’t wake until ten.
After washing up and heading downstairs, she caught the aroma of food.
Maureen didn’t spot Geoffrey. Walking toward the kitchen, she saw him clumsily bustling by the
stove.
Geoffrey excelled at work and piano, but never at cooking.
Maureen watched him nearly burn his hand several times before stepping forward: “Let me.”
Geoffrey’s tall frame didn’t budge: “Relax, it’s takeout. I’m just reheating it. Edible.”
He thought Maureen feared his cooking would taste bad, so he explained.
Maureen wondered how he, who claimed he couldn’t cook, managed to prepare such delicious dishes today.
“Be careful not to burn yourself.”
Yesterday’s issues were separate from today’s. Maureen didn’t want to push him too hard and sat waiting at the dining table nearby.
Watching Geoffrey’s busy yet clumsy movements, she recalled Andrea’s words from before.
Andrea said Geoffrey would personally cook her an entire feast.
Maureen still remembered the Instagram post – that spread looked like it came from a five–star
restaurant.

But after recent interactions with Geoffrey, she realized he genuinely couldn’t cook. Andrea had deliberately lied to her.
Lost in thought, Maureen didn’t notice Geoffrey had already served the steaming dishes.
“Let’s eat.”
Maureen snapped back to reality, accepting the bowl and chopsticks: “Thanks.”
During the meal, she couldn’t resist asking: “Did you really never cook before?”
“1
Geoffrey assumed she’d mistaken him for Alex again, testing and belittling him.
“Anything Alex can do, I can do too.”
Maureen’s expression frosted over: “If you keep being this passive–aggressive, I’m going back
home.”
Geoffrey dreaded her anger – she rarely lost her temper before.
His tone instantly softened: “I can’t cook, but I’ll learn.”
If not for his blindness, he’d master it quickly. How hard could cooking be?
Maureen saw his attitude soften and didn’t press further, focusing on her meal.
During pregnancy, she’d been eating more and didn’t dare restrict herself, worrying it might affect the baby.
After finishing dinner, Geoffrey actually got up to wash the dishes.
