Maureen, unlike his calm demeanor, said politely: “Uncle Alex, are you here to see Geoff?

He’s out working.”

That “Uncle Alex” reminded Alex of the relationship between them.

Alex’s eyes darkened slightly, but he showed nothing on his face.

“I came to see how you and my brother are doing, if you need anything.”

“Nothing.”

Maureen thought of something and added, “But now that you’re CEO of Corporate Giant, can you pay out the contract funds Geoff signed to the clients?”

She figured with Geoffrey’s temper, he’d be too embarrassed to bring it up himself.

She didn’t want to keep being burdened with massive debt alongside Geoffrey.

Alex looked puzzled. “What funds?”

Then he noticed something and quickly continued, “Did my brother misunderstand something?

Even though I took over Corporate Giant, thirty percent of its shares still belong to him.”

Thirty percent of the shares!

That’s a huge amount.

Maureen looked bewildered. “Didn’t Geoff sign contracts transferring all his shares to you?”

Alex had indeed received those shares, but he explained:

“On paper, yes. But the company will distribute dividends to my brother based on his original

stake.

He never told you?”

Maureen felt she needed to ask Geoffrey directly.

“I’m not clear about these matters.”

Alex took a sip of water. “If it were me, I’d never keep financial secrets from my wife.”

Alex finished speaking just as the door swung open, revealing Geoffrey standing at the threshold.

“What are you hiding?”

He’d rushed back upon hearing Alex had come.

Alex turned, a flicker of coldness in his eyes. “Geoffrey, you’re back. I was just asking your wife how you manage work while blind.”

Geoffrey knitted his sword–like brows. “Out with it. Now.”

Alex rose slowly, casting a glance at Maureen before following Geoffrey outside.

Snowflakes swirled in the courtyard where two identical men stood, an arresting sight.

“What’s your game?” Geoffrey demanded.

With Maureen absent, Alex dropped the act. “Like I said–I’m taking back what’s mine.”

“Geoffrey, you’ve hogged every good thing since we were kids. Now you’d steal Reenie too? Fair?”

Geoffrey mocked, “Don’t blame others. Ever consider your own actions?”

Alex knew he meant the identity theft. He fired back, “Then going blind’s your own fault.”

Tension hung thick between them.

Suddenly, Alex’s phone rang.

He picked up the phone to see Elizabeth calling and had to step away momentarily.

Settling into the car, he called back: “What is it?”

“Alex, where are you? I came to Corporate Headquarters looking for you, but you’re not here.”

Elizabeth sat on the sofa in Alex’s office, her demeanor strikingly different from her usual haughty self.

She was bundled up tightly, her eyes betraying a hint of timidity.

Nearby, assistant Lisa watched with confusion–how could someone change so drastically

Alex avoided answering and threw the question back.

“I’m Alex’s fiancee. Believe it or not, I can have him fire you?”

Lisa pressed her lips together, remaining silent.

Elizabeth stood up, slammed her purse at her, then stomped out in her heels.

She hadn’t gone far when someone blocked her path.

“Sis.”

Adrian slouched with hands in pockets, smirking. “I know where Mr. Sutton went.‘

Elizabeth narrowed her eyes. “Where?”
