No Mercy No Forgiveness (Maureen) novel Chapter 90

Chapter 90

Andrea scrolled through each message, now truly afraid to post or reply on X.

She called her agent: Get the PR team moving now.

Thanks to her ties with Geoffrey, the agent didn’t lash out at her.

Andie, if we’d negotiated with Ms. Shi’s studio when first accused, we

could’ve resolved this.

But nowafter you so vehemently denied plagiarism and posted that Truth will outstatement, even if we pay to bury all trending topics,

it’s useless.

Only two options remain: either ask Mr. Sutton for help again, or personally apologize to Ms. Shi.

Andrea frowned.

She’d just offended the Sutton family’s young master todayhow could she approach Geoffrey again?

She feared that seeking his help too often would squander the last shred of goodwill she held with him.

Her only recourse now was Ms. Shi

Andrea couldn’t help thinking of Maureen. Katherine was Ms. Shi’s lawyercould Ms. Shi actually be Maureen?

Impossible!

Andrea dismissed the thought. Ms. Shi was internationally renowned with countless fans.

Maureen had only been abroad a few yearshow could she become a famous composer?

Didn’t she rely on Gareth to manage her company?

Andrea decided it must be coincidence. She told her assistant: Give

me Ms. Shi’s contact details.

I’ll approach her personally.

Maureen had dinner at Katherine’s place and talked with her for a long

while.

As it grew late, she took a car back to PEARL VILLA. ·

Fearing Jacob might overthink things, she asked Katherine not to mention Steven’s situation or her current stay at PEARL VILLA.

Truth be told, Jacob had already sensed something off about Mom today. Considerate as ever, he didn’t press for answers, planning instead to quietly pump Aunt Katherine for information later.

PEARL VILLA.

Geoffrey had returned from the office since five o’clock.

He sat on the living room sofa, an exquisite gift box resting on the coffee table before him.

Thud-

The ornate wall clock’s hour hand settled firmly on the 10.

Ten o’clock already? Maureen still wasn’t back?

Geoffrey had never waited this long for anyone. Irritated, he tugged at his tie, his handsome brows furrowed slightly.

His slender fingers picked up the gift box, inspecting it repeatedly before closing it again, satisfied the contents would please any woman.

Another half hour crawled by, deepening Geoffrey’s restlessness.

He rose, ready to personally retrieve Maureen, when the front door clicked open.

His gaze snapped toward the entrance. There stood Maureen, draped in a cerise gown, stepping in on slender heels. Their eyes locked- silence hung thick between them.

Maureen recovered first: Aren’t you asleep yet?

Haven’t slept, haven’t eaten either.

Geoffrey’s mind was a mess right now: Where did you go?

Why are you back so late?

Oh, had dinner at my best friend’s place.

Maureen changed into slippers and walked in, then moved past Geoffrey heading upstairs to her room.

She found it oddhadn’t he always had people tailing her?

What’s the point?

Geoffrey finally snapped, his tall frame blocking her path.

Aren’t you going to ask where I went today?

What I did?

What else? Work, right?

He’d always spent weekends and holidays workingno need for questions.

Maureen was puzzled. What was wrong with him?

Meeting her clear gaze, Geoffrey felt inexplicably unable to stay angry.

He stepped closer, handing her a gift box.

From a company client.

Maureen stared blankly at the gift in his hand, not taking it.

Every time Geoffrey messed up before, he’d casually fob her off with client gifts.

Once, when Sean’s people pushed her into a poolnearly drowning her, eardrums bulging, almost deaf-

he’d tossed her a necklace afterward, saying: Stay away from those places, and you won’t get hurt.
