No Mercy No Forgiveness (Maureen) novel Chapter 92

She clenched her fists. After what felt like an eternity, when Geoffrey’s grip loosened slightly, she slipped away.

With nowhere else to go, she stepped onto the balcony, letting the cold wind whip past her as rain pattered outside.

Time blurred. From inside, Geoffrey’s feverish murmurs drifted out intermittently.

MaureenI don’t feel well.

Just as Maureen reentered the room, she heard him cursing her.

Yes, I’m heartless. I should’ve let you keep mistreating me after you bullied me.

I should wait on you forever, never leave, right?

Geoffrey was burning with fever again, halfconscious as he heard Maureen’s complaints, eyes shut irritably while reaching for her.

Maureen stepped back, dodging him, then opened the bedroom door and left.

Soon after she left, a heavy thud echoed from the bedrooma man hitting the floor.

This time, Maureen didn’t soften.

She spent the night curled on the living room sofa downstairs.

When Geoffrey woke, his head throbbed and still felt feverish.

He realized he was on the floor again. Glancing at the empty bedno Maureenhe frowned.

Stepping out of the bedroom onto the secondfloor landing, he spotted the small figure curled up on the sofa.

Geoffrey’s long legs carried him step by step downstairs until he stood before Maureen. Tear stains still glistened on her face as she slept curled up defensively against the sofa, fists clenched tight.

The room felt chilly. He reached out and draped a blanket over her.

Just as he was about to call for breakfast delivery, the foyer door swung open from outside. Andrea walked in, heels clicking, breakfast bags in hand.

Geoffrey, I brought you breakfast. Isn’t today the company anniversary?

We’ll go together later

asleep on the sofà.

Andrea froze in place, disbelief washing over her.

Why was Maureen sleeping here?

Had they been together all night?

Geoffrey looked at her drowsily. How did you get in?

No security alert meant only one thing: fingerprint code or facial recognition access.

Andrea’s knuckles whitened around the breakfast bags, her face

paling. The housekeeper arranged it. Said it’d help me look after you better.

Andrea had been added to Pearl’s entry system by Heather, who wanted her to conceive Alex’s child, granting her unrestricted access.

Andrea finally found time to visit today.

She’d meant to contact Professor Shi yesterday, but couldn’t get through.

Her gaze lingered on Maureen before she lowered her voice: Geoffrey, who’s this?

Outside,

Maureen had slept poorly last night. Resting without her hearing aids, she remained undisturbed by them.

Maureen sleeping on the sofa?

Geoffrey lit a cigarette: I had her move back.

Andrea stiffened.

Geoffrey, aren’t you two divorced?

Isn’t this inappropriate?

We never married. You visiting my place freelyisn’t that inappropriate either?

Andrea’s teeth clenched.

Geoffrey already called security to delete her facial recognition and fingerprint access.

Andrea listened silently, seething with resentment.

From her spot outside, Andrea could see Maureen through the window.

She turned to Geoffrey, suddenly remembering what he’d said days prior.

Geoffrey, didn’t you say I had two options?

I’ve made up my mind. I want to marry you.

Maureen happened to walk out just in time to hear those words, freezing in place,

Geoffrey looked at Andrea. Are you sure?

Andrea nodded firmly. I’m sure.

So what if there’s no love? She wants this position!

Afraid he might change his mind, she added, You promised me, Geoffrey. You must not back out.
