Chapter 20
Talia stayed in the States for the funeral, and during that time her phone wouldn’t stop ringing. Producers, Broadway directors, opera companies–everyone wanted to know if she was ready to come back.
“We’ve got this incredible new musical in development…”
“The Met is looking for a lead soprano for next season…
“There’s a recording deal on the table that could set you up for life…”
Trevor jumped in too: “If you want to get back into music, I can set you up with the best producers in the industry. Top–tier recording studios, whatever you need.”
Talia turned down every single offer without hesitation.
“I’m not interested in any of that anymore. All I care about is being there for Isabella. I want to watch her grow up, be present for every moment I missed
Fame and money feh so meaningless now. Her daughter was the only thing that mattered.
Trevor seemed to respect her decision, but when it came time to fly back to Italy, he blocked her path
“What now?” Talla’s guard went up immediately.
“One month. Stay for one month, and then Til back off completely. You’ll never see me again.
His voice was dead serious. I swear on my life, Talin.“
He wasn’t playing around, and honestly? The deal was tempting.
Having Trevor constantly lurking around their lives was exhausting. If she could get a guarantee that he’d leave them alone for good, maybe it was worth one month of her time. A chance to finally close this chapter completely.
But she wasn’t stupid.
“I want that in writing. Legal documents, signatures, the whole thing.”
Trevor didn’t even hesitate. He called his lawyers that same day.
So Talla moved back into the penthouse, thinking of it as her final goodbye to this part of her life.
For the first two weeks, Trever turned into some kind of entertainment director. Every day was a new adventure–theme parks where they rode every single ride, shopping sprees where Isabella could pick out whatever caught her eye, a crazy road trip that hit four cities in seven days.
In her four year old mind. Trevor had transformed from “the man who makes Mommy sad” to “the really cool guy who buys me cotton candy
and wins me stuffed animals.”
She still wasn’t totally clear on the whole dad thing, but Mommy didn’t want her calling him that, so she didn’t. Isabella always followed
Mominy’s rules.
After two weeks of nonstop activity, they were all completely exhausted. Even Trevor looked wiped out.
The last two weeks were completely different. He stopped planning big outings and barely touched his work. Instead, he just stayed home with them.
He cooked every single meal from scratch–breakfast, lunch, dinner. When they were too tired to get up in the morning, he’d bring food to their rooms and gently coax them awake. If they really didn’t want to get up, he’d just let them sleep in.

Chapter 20
It was honestly bizarre. Talia kept waiting for the catch, for Trevor to reveal his real agenda. This wasn’t the controlling, arrogant man she remembered.
The guy in thousand dollar suits had been replaced by
i by someone who wore aprons and seemed genuinely happy just making them comfortable.
The closer they got to their departure date, the more gentle he became. It was starting 1
