Grace stood in front of the wardrobe while her fingers hovered over the row of neatly arranged clothing. She scanned the hangers with her brow slowly knitting together as the realization crept in.
Everything in there–every shirt, every pair of soft pants, every folded sweater–had been brought by Keegan.
Since the day he brought her in his estate, not once had she needed to ask for anything. Her size had been guessed with alarming accuracy and her comfort was anticipated. Cotton, linen, knits, and everything practical, everything easy to wear.
But somehow, there were no dresses.
No heels. No lace. Nothing ornamental.
She stepped back slightly with arms crossing as she stared at the wardrobe. Then, a faint smile tugged at the corner of her mouth. Of course. Keegan had noticed. She never wore dresses. He probably saw it long before she even realized it herself.
Grace chuckled as she realized that she liked that about him–that observant side of him.
But tonight is different and special. She wanted to wear something he would remember from her by.
Grace faintly smiled as she turned slowly from the wardrobe, uncertain.
A sudden knock at the door startled her from her thoughts.
She blinked, glancing toward the sound before making her way across the room. Slowly, she opened it just enough to peek through the small gap.
A maid stood on the other side, holding two boxes.
“Good evening, miss,” the maid greeted with a polite smile and a slight bow. “Master Sergeyev would like you to have this.”
Grace blinked. “Huh… thank you,”
She accepted the boxes with both hands, watching as the maid bowed once more and turned down the hall. She then closed the door quietly behind her and carried the packages to the bed to set them down with care. Her hands hovered over the top box for a second, then she opened it gently.
And the moment Grace realized what it was, she couldn’t help but genuinely smile as she took it into her arms.

Meanwhile, Keegan stood beside the sleek black limousine waiting in the courtyard. His hands were in his pockets, his posture relaxed, but the subtle shifting of his weight from foot to foot gave him away.
He checked his watch.
Then looked up at the entrance.
Then back at his watch again.
“Stop it,” he told himself. “You’re not fifteen waiting outside prom. You’ve been shot at, betrayed, and negotiated billion–dollar contracts without blinking… so get a grip.
But none of that mattered now for him. Not when he was about to see her. Not when he desperately hoped that tonight, she’d see him too.
The front doors of the estate finally opened with a soft creak.
One of the maids stepped out and gave a graceful bow. “She is ready, Master Sergeyev.”
Keegan barely had time to brace himself before she appeared.
Grace stepped out slowly with the cold wind kissing her skin. The dress she wore was simple yet beautiful enough to have Keegan frozen where he stood. The dress was a vision of delicate elegance. It was an ankle–length gown crafted from the softest nude tulle, almost ethereal in its weightlessness. The sheer overlay whispered against the skin, adorned with intricate floral embroidery in shades of midnight blue, ivory, and muted gold, as if the wildflowers of a secret meadow had been stitched lovingly by hand.
The dress had long, transparent sleeves that ended gracefully at the wrists, with blossoms trailing down like vines in bloom. The bodice hugged gently at the waist before flowing into gathered, flowing skirt that swayed with every breath of air. Subtle pleats and layered texture gave it movement and grace like it had been made to dance in moonlight.
On her feet, she wore modest heeled sandals, carefully chosen because he knew she preferred comfort over anything that demanded too much attention. They made her walk steadily like grace had always been sewn into her bones.
Her pale skin glowed in the light of the moon, as the dress blended into her tone like it had been made for her and no one else. Her hair was pulled back in a low bun, woven into a delicate lace braid that revealed the gentle curve of her neck.
She wore no diamonds. No pearls,
Just a soft smile that bloomed when her eyes met his, and a brightness in her gaze that made his heart thud hard against his ribs.

Keegan felt breathless. For a second, he forgot how to speak. And before he realized it, he was already smiling.
Not just because she looked stunning.
Not just because she wore the dress he gave her.
But because she was walking toward him with a smile that quietly said something had changed between them. And he could see it… how could he not? Those eyes held a softness, a kind of hope, and they were looking straight at him.
It knocked down his walls, tugged at something deep inside him, and left him soft in a way he never expected.
He was still staring, caught in it. And when she stopped in front of him and raised her hand toward his, she spoke.
“Here,” she said, grinning like she knew exactly what she was doing, “hold my hand.”
And just like that, Keegan… the powerful, ruthless, untouchable Keegan–melted.
“Am I… dead?” he muttered out of nowhere, blinking at her in complete awe.
Grace laughed, full and bright.
What?”
He looked down at their hands, then back at her with that same dazed look, lips quirking up helplessly. “Because this feels like heaven. And there’s no way I survived you looking like that.
She rolled her eyes, still laughing. “You’re so dramatic.”
“I’m serious,” he said with a boyish grin. “You’re kind of… really dangerous dressed like that.” Grace raised an eyebrow. “Dangerous?”
“Yeah,” he nodded, squeezing her hand. “You’re giving me heart problems, woman.”
“You always have heart problems.”
“Not like this,” he replied, and his smile softened. “This one’s actually kind of nice.”
She stared at him, visibly trying not to smile too wide but failed.
He took a step closer, slightly bending his head to meet her gaze. “You look beautiful. But it’s
not just the dress. It’s the way you’re smiling right now. Like the world’s a little kinder tonight.

Grace went quiet as warmth spread through her chest. “It is,” she whispered. “Just a little.”
Keegan looked like he could live in that moment forever. “Then I’ll do whatever it takes to keep it that way.”
When she didn’t respond, he added quickly, bashfully, “You know, like… bring snacks. And not let the wrong people near you. And… learn how to pick decent dinner places.”
She laughed again and shook her head. “You’re ridiculous.”
“But yours,” he said, hopeful, “if you’ll have me.
Grace squeezed his hand, her smile soft but steady. “Let’s just start with dinner.” she chuckled.
“Best first step ever.” he beamed.
And with her hand in his, Keegan opened the car door like he was escorting royalty—and in his heart, he was.
