Chapter 37: Perverse Love
“You cannot fight me, Noelle. You’re mine to the very end, he declared while his eyes darkened with an insatiable hunger for her.
In an instant, he shifted his grip and his hands began moving to the fabric of her dress. And before she could fully comprehend his intentions, he ripped it apart with a swift, aggressive motion. The tearing sound of the fabric echoed in the room, and Noelle gasped as the shock of the act coursed through her. Her heart raced as panic rose within her. She could feel the cool air hit her exposed skin. But more than that, she could feel the fear in her heart starting to overwhelm her.
“Adrian!” she cried out desperately with anger flooding her voice. “What are you doing?!”
But he paid her words no mind. His focus was solely on her. His eyes burned with an intensity that frightened her. She struggled against him and tried to pull away, but he was relentless. Instead, he pulled her back into his grasp.
“You think this will change anything?” she shouted with defiance. “You think you can just force me into your arms and expect me to love you again?!”
But Adrian merely held her gaze and a smirk played on his lips as he leaned closer.
“Do not fool yourself. I can see the love you still have for me. You still love me, Noelle.”
Noelle bit her lip hard and her entire body trembled as a single tear slipped down her cheek.
He was right. 1
Who was she fooling?
She could lie to herself all she wanted. And even pretend she had moved on, pretend his touch no longer affected her–but the truth was far crueler.
She still loved him.
Even after everything, after the betrayal, after the heartache that had shattered her, the love she had for him hadn’t simply vanished.
How could it?
How could she erase the way he used to hold her as if she was the most precious thing in his world? How could she forget the way his lips had once whispered promises against her skin, making her believe in forever? How could she pretend that the warmth of his embrace that felt like it was the only place she had once felt truly safe–no longer meant anything? 1
Love wasn’t something that could be switched off like a light. It lingered. It clung to her, wrapping around her heart like a cruel chain, reminding her of everything she wished she could forget.
And Adrian knew it.
He could see it in her eyes, hear it in her silence.
She had spent days and nights trying to convince herself she no longer loved him.
But one look, one touch, and the walls she had delicately built were already beginning to crumble.

Adrian smiled at her silence as a flicker of triumph ignited in his chest. She no longer pushed him away, and he took it as a chance to pull her into his embrace with longing
As the expensive, diamond–patterned sheets twisted beneath Noelle, all she could do was close her eyes and whimper. The soft cotton did little to cushion Adrian’s weight that was pressing down on her.
Noelle’s body was slowly turning into a battlefield. Bruises bloomed on her wrist where he’d gripped her, her legs trembled from the ceaseless struggle and her skin was slowly starting to be filled with the bruises caused by his kisses. Each desperate kick against the mattress only served to further arouse him. A low growl rumbled in his chest. It was a primal sound that echoed the primal act he was inflicting upon her.
“I missed you…” he hummed in cruel satisfaction. His breath was hot against her ear as each exhale felt like a burning brand.
Her protests were reduced to strangled gasps and choked sobs. “Adrian…please….stop….” she whispered. But the words ended up lost in a tide of pain. Tears streamed down her face that mingled with her sweat as he ravished her.
He continued as his fingers invaded her in a deliberate and aggressive movements. Each thrust was a violation that echoed from her slowly breaking will.
And all Noelle could do was groan. The sound was clearly filled of agony and a terrifying, involuntary surrender. Her nails dug into the mattress, leaving crescent–shaped gouges in the fabric.
Adrian’s grip tightened as he finally made his way into her warm flesh.
“Mmm, so tight,” he murmured.
He could feel the involuntary tightening of her muscles that thrilled him. It was a perverse victory he dare not admit. Such forced compliance, the unwilling submission, it aroused him too much. He pressed harder onto her while his movements grew faster and more relentless. Noelle’s body bucked, her hips arched involuntarily despite her desperate attempts to resist. Her breath hitched and ragged gasps escaped her lips, punctuated by the muffled cries of “No…no…please…stop…” She tried to twist away, to escape the crushing weight of his body, but he held her fast as his grip felt like an unyielding cage.
The room was filled with the sounds of her struggle. The creaking bed, the ragged gasps of Noelle, the low, guttural sounds Adrian made as he continued his assault. He could feel her body trembling. He enjoyed the scent of her sweat on him and the sweetness of her tears on the tip of his tongue.
He pried her legs apart and went even rougher on her. He ignored the silent scream reflected in her wide, terrified
eyes.
The rhythmic thudding of his body against hers punctuated the suffocating silence. Noelle’s body remained rigidly still. And no sound escaped her lips as she looked at the ceiling of the room, feeling even more broken than before.
