Chapter 75: End
Extra Chapter 2
Valerian’s POV
I have faced many terrifying things in this life.
But nothing, and I mean nothing, has ever prepared me for a pregnant, hormonal Noelle.
Her baby bump had just started to show, and with it came her moods. One moment, she was all sunshine while wrapping her arms around me and telling me I was the best husband in the world. The next?
I was a villain. A criminal. The reason for all suffering on Earth.
And today?
Today, I was about to meet my greatest challenge yet.
It started off simple enough. Noelle had been craving something sweet, and like the devoted husband that I am, I made sure she had the best. I ordered the richest, most decadent chocolate cake I could find and set it in front of her with full confidence that I had just won the title of ‘Husband of the Year‘.
“Here, milaya, your favorite,” I said, pleased with myself.
She stared at the cake. Then at me. Then back at the cake.
Suddenly, her lips wobbled.
I froze.
Oh no.
Oh no no no. Not the wobbly lip.
Then, before I could even process what was happening-
A tear slid down her cheek.
My chest tightened in pure terror. “Wha–Noelle? What’s wrong?”
She sniffled dramatically. “You think I’m fat, don’t you?”
My soul instantly left my body.
“What?! No!” I said quickly, my mind scrambling for survival.
Her lower lip trembled. “You think I eat too much, so you got me cake to make me feel worse!”
“What? That doesn’t even–I got it because you said you were craving it!”
She gasped as her eyes widened. “So now you’re saying I’m demanding?”
My mind went completely blank.
This was a trap. I could feel it. There was no escape.
Alexei sat across the table like a man watching a high–stakes courtroom drama. “Uncle Val, whatever you do, choose your next words wisely.”
shot him a deadly glare. That little traitor.
But I didn’t have time to deal with him–Noelle was still glaring at me.

Timmediately dropped to one knee beside her chair, gripping herands desperately. “Milaya, if anything, I love you even more now.”
“Then prove it.” She said while narrowing her eyes at me.
I straightened. “How?”
She pointed at the cake. “Eat it.”
“What?” I blinked in disbelief.
“If you don’t think I’m fat, eat the whole thing.”
I glanced at the giant slice of chocolate cake, then back at my completely irrational but still adorable wife.
Alexei leaned forward. “Do it, uncle. Prove your loyalty.”
I inhaled sharply and picked up the fork. Fine.
And so I took a massive bite.
Alexej nodded in approval. “A true warrior.” He said and it made me take another bite. But all of a sudden, Alexei shook his head
in disapproval. “We will remember you, uncle.”
“Oh my god, Val, you’re eating my cake!” Noelle suddenly cried.
I choked. “You–you told me to-”
Noelle snatched the plate away like I had committed a crime. “I can’t believe you’d do this to me! You know I’ve been craving
this!”
My soul left my body for the second time today.
Alexei collapsed on the table laughing. “I’m–I’m crying!”
I rubbed my temples, completely defeated.
Meanwhile, Noelle who had just accused me of stealing, was now happily eating the cake like nothing had happened.
And then, as if she hadn’t just emotionally traumatized me, she perked up again.
“Hm! This is really good! Thank you!” She leaned over and kissed my cheek sweetly.
I just sat there, staring at nothing.
Alexei patted my shoulder. “Uncle Val?”
“…Yeah?”
“You’re gonna need so much patience for the next few months.”
I ended up agreeing with the little boy’s words. “I know.”
That night, I sat in my office, sipping whiskey as I tried to process what had happened the whole day. Ivan who was sitting across from me with arms crossed, suddenly spoke.
“You look like a man who’s seen death.”
stared blankly at the wall. “I have.”
“Who was the enemy?”

Lexhaled. “Chocolate cake.”
Ivan blinked. “What?”
I dragged a hand down my face.
“Noelle’s pregnancy hormones are scary.” I said in utter disbelief as my eyes stared into nothingness.
Ivan frowned. “You threw yourself into a shootout once with a knife wound and barely flinched, but now you look like you’ve been to war.”
“I have been to war,” I muttered.
“With whom?”
I slowly turned my gaze to him and answered. “My wife.”
Then Ivan, the same man who once survived torture without breaking, whispered as if also traumatized, “Oh.”
And so we sat there, both acknowledging the unspoken truth that pregnant women were the most powerful and unpredictable forces of nature.
Out of nowhere, a sound of small, confident footsteps broke the silence.
Alexei strolled into the office with a juice box in hand, wearing an expression far too smug for a six–year–old. Without hesitation, he climbed onto the couch, making himself comfortable as he took a slow, deliberate sip.
“So,” he said, setting his juice box down with elegance. “Has uncle Val finished mourning the loss of his dignity?”
I sighed and pinched the bridge of my nose. “Here we go again…”
Ivan glanced between us in suspicion. “What exactly happened?”
Alexei smirked. “Well, you see, our fearless uncle thought he was winning today.”
“What did he do?” Ivan asked, raising a brow at me.
I sighed again and answered. “I fed my wife cake.”
Ivan’s gaze flicked between us. “…And?”
“And she cried because she thought that he thought she was fat.” Alexei excitedly explained.
Ivan tilted his head slightly. “But… he didn’t say that, did he?”
Alexei smirked. “No. But that doesn’t matter, does it?”
Ivan’s face remained unreadable, but there was the slightest flicker of understanding in his eyes.
“No,” he muttered, shaking his head. “It doesn’t.”
Alexei continued, “Then she told him to eat the cake to prove he didn’t think she was fat.”
Ivan gave me a slow, calculating look while shaking his head. “…So you ate it.”
I nodded grimly.
Alexei let out a dramatic sigh as if clearly disappointed at me. “And then she got mad because he was eating her cake.”
Ivan sat back in his chair and let out a low exhale.
“I didn’t stand a chance.” I said while rubbing my temples.
Alexei nodded solemnly. “Nope.”

Then let out a low hum, but already trying to stifle his laughter. “has a point.“
I sighed, downing the rest of my whiskey, “I need a vacation.”
Alexei sorted. “Good luck with that.”
Tleveled a stern glare at him and remembered something “And willy, exactly, are you still awake? It’s past your bedtime”
Alexei blinked at me, completely unfazed. Then, suddenly, he burst into giggles, grabbed his juice box, and bolted for the door.
“Goodnight, uncle! Sweet dreams of cake!” he called over his shoulder before disappearing up the stairs.
I opened my mouth to yell after him, but what was the point? The little menace was already gone.
“My enemies used to fear my silence. Now, I fear my wife’s.”
