Old Dreams No Return (Serena) novel Chapter 445

Chapter 425

Tyrell looked at me with a hint of tenderness in his eyes, that kind of hazy and captivating gaze made me turn my head to the side directly, I was afraid that I couldn’t control my soft heart.

I was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to resist giving him another chance, even though I told myself that I must be strong and stay away from him. I just didn’t expect

from him. I just didn’t expect him to get this opportunity.

In contrast, Emmett, apart from chuckling, sat there motionless.

When he looked at the unfinished chessboard of his grandfather, he thought carefully.

His seriousness caught the attention of his grandfather. “Young man, I see you remain silent and frown at my chessboard. Could it be that you have solved this endgame?”

Emmett smiled and nodded slightly, “Frankie, the whole chess game was like a war, and the key to cracking it lies in daring to take risks. So, I feel that playing chess like this can help me get out of this predicament!”

Emmett moved the chess piece as he spoke, instantly catching his grandfather’s attention.

Grandfather furrowed his brow, his silver hair glistening with vitality, his eyes a mix of determination. Then, he nodded and said with a smile, “Not bad. That’s why everyone has their strengths. You’re a good lad. But what if I were to go this way?”

Back and forth, Emmett and his grandfather competed with each other on the chessboard, while Tyrell quietly

walked over to me.

“Kay has become thin!”

I didn’t say anything.

“Is the young lady still angry?”

I turned my gaze to the outside of the French window and saw the hundred-year-old pine tree in the garden. I sighed.

“Mr. Vaughn, I hope you haven’t forgotten the words we once said, it would be nice to be friends with you!”

Tyrell took a deep breath and said, “Did you choose him because Emmett looked like Leland?”

I awkwardly and distantly got up, I poured a glass of red wine and finished it in one gulp, glanced at them playing chess, and spoke softly, “I just want to know the truth!”

Tyrell was a bit confused and then nodded, “Leland is right, maybe you haven’t changed, but have become more responsible.”

I didn’t even know what I was going to do with my serious attitude.
