"Sister An Yu, what kind of man do you like?" Tang Yue asked in a different way.
Qin Anyu’s mind conjured up an image of a refined and handsome man.
Qin Anyu shook her head, tossing his figure out of her mind, and then she thought of the person who saved her in the dark night. She even clearly remembered that person scolding her for not recognizing a good-hearted person, saving her, yet she bit him.
She didn’t know who exactly had saved her.
Qin Anyu tilted her head, pondering.
Tang Yue watched her face change expressions without blinking, and asked, "Sister An Yu, who was the last person you thought of? Your expression seemed a bit sweet, and somewhat expectant?"
"Sweet?" Qin Anyu, coming back to her senses, looked at Tang Yue with a puzzled face.
"Yes." Tang Yue nodded affirmatively: "The first person you thought of, your expression was complicated and conflicted, but then it became somewhat sweet – like the feeling when one thinks of their beloved."
"You’re thinking too much, I was thinking of the person who saved me." Qin Anyu said as soon as she finished speaking.
Curious, Tang Yue leaned in and asked, "A hero saving a beauty? Was he a handsome, flourishing young man? What’s his name, and what does he do?"
Qin Anyu couldn’t help but roll her eyes at her, saying, "Xiao Yue, I didn’t expect you to be so gossipy."
"Sister An Yu, you’re my sister, I’m just showing concern for you." Tang Yue smiled as she hooked her arm and looked up at her affectionately, ready to listen attentively.
Qin Anyu smiled softly. She looked up at the night sky through the window, where stars twinkled. Her thoughts seemed to travel back to the past; a faint melancholy enveloped her as she said, "Chu Xuan and I have been friends since childhood, but it was only unrequited love from me. I thought, after graduation, we would naturally get married."
"So, when he got a girlfriend and even struggled with his family for her, it hurt me a lot. Later, he rejected me in person." Qin Anyu felt a twinge of pain in her heart as she recalled the incident, something she once hardly dared to remember, but now she could speak of it relatively calmly.
Tang Yue involuntarily held her breath and asked, "Were you and Chu Xuan a couple before?"
Qin Anyu tilted her head to think, and replied, "I suppose so, at least outwardly, we were recognized as a couple."
"Then his actions were really indecent. Did you and the Chu Family have a marriage arrangement?" Tang Yue asked further.
"Yes." Qin Anyu chuckled lightly, "But it wasn’t official; just a verbal agreement."
"Then Chu Xuan was too much, juggling two relationships." Tang Yue pursed her lips as she spoke, feeling, even without having met Chu Xuan, that he wasn’t a good person.
Publicly, he was using Qin Anyu as a shield while secretly being with someone else.
"No." Qin Anyu defended him, "Actually, it’s not exactly juggling two relationships; he never admitted anything, and I just assumed too much on my own."
"Let’s not talk about that; let me tell you about something that happened afterward. Once, I went out drinking and got quite drunk. I don’t even know how I ended up in that alley."
Qin Anyu’s voice trembled slightly, as she involuntarily gripped Tang Yue’s hand tightly.
