Rebirth in 1986: Unforgettable Regrets novel Chapter 556

"Chu Hong?" Lian Qingyang heard a man's voice and hurried over. He was startled when he saw the middle-aged man drenched in blood and helped Tang Yue dig him out.

"Thank you." The middle-aged man held his bleeding head and kept thanking Lian Qingyang as he held his hand.

"Don't mention it, we're still waiting to go rescue others."

Seeing that the man could move his legs and feet well, Lian Qingyang turned back and continued digging.

Not daring to use tools, let alone machinery, they could only manually move the large chunks of rock by hand.

Tang Yue and Lian Qingyang did not complain or say they were tired, even though the little food they had eaten in the morning had long been digested, leaving their stomachs growling with hunger.

Lian Qingyang wanted to find some food for Tang Yue, but then he thought that Chu Hong and Qin Anyu, who were buried underneath, had been without a drop of water for more than a day. What was there to fear about being hungry for one meal?

The sooner they rescued them, the sooner they could take them to the hospital!

By noon, light rain began to fall from the sky again.

Tang Yue and Lian Qingyang continued digging intently. They had rescued quite a few people, but they had not yet seen Chu Hong or Qin Anyu.

The deeper they dug, the more afraid Tang Yue felt. What if, just what if something happened to Qin Anyu? What then?

Impossible.

Tang Yue shook her head, thinking of Qin Anyu's usual gluttonous antics, her beaming smile when she called her Xiao Yue, and the shy way she acted when talking about Chu Hong.

Tang Yue had always felt that Qin Anyu's feelings for Chu Hong were not right, not the way one would regard a brother. So, when Chu Hong later asked her about it, Tang Yue didn't refuse and simply spoke out.

"Sister An Yu, Chu Hong, can you hear me talking?" Tang Yue called out while digging.

Guessing that they had moved so many rocks and were probably reaching the second floor, Tang Yue started calling out. If they really responded, then it would be easier to find the right direction to dig.

Chu Hong had been holding on for a very long time, having given Qin Anyu water several times, but the heat from her body did not subside at all, which worried him terribly. He dared not sleep for the whole night, and even though he was overcome with drowsiness, Chu Hong dared not let himself rest. He held Qin Anyu's hand tightly and, taking advantage of her dazed state, coaxed her to eat the remaining roast duck and buns.

Even though they were completely cold, it was always better to eat something than nothing at all.

Chu Hong did not shout loudly, only wanting to conserve some energy. When he really couldn't hold on any longer, he would pinch himself and occasionally check on Qin Anyu's forehead.

Chu Hong didn't know how much time had passed. When he faintly heard Tang Yue's voice from outside, he even thought he was hallucinating.

Tang Yue was far away in Jing City; how could she possibly come to Yishi?

"Where are you?" Tang Yue kept calling out as she dug.

Chu Hong clearly heard this time. His eyes flashed with hope, sensing rescue was imminent. He shouted with all his might, "We are here, right here."

Having gone without food or water for more than a day, Chu Hong's throat was dry and hoarse.

"Sister Xiao Yue, it seems there's a sound coming from below," Lian Qingyang paused in moving the rocks, tossed a stone aside onto the empty road, and lay across the rubble, shouting loudly, "Chu Hong, Qin Anyu, are you down there?"

"Yes, we are here," Chu Hong's heart surged with joy. He reached for the thermos beside him and started knocking on the overturned table. Original content can be found at novel※fire.net

The muffled sound was heard not only by Lian Qingyang but also by Tang Yue.
