Rebirth Of The Heiress And The Tycoon's Lover (Alina) novel Chapter 26

Chapter 26

ALINA’S POV.

It was dark. I couldn’t see a thing because I had a blindfold on.

I tried to move, but it seemed like my hands and feet were bound to whatever it was I was laying on.

“What is going on?!” I yelled, terrified. My voice echoed around the room.

I didn’t know where I was, but I could hear the sound of water dripping from somewhere nearby.

“Where is this place?!” I shouted again, but once more, my voice echoed into silence with no response.

Then I heard it.

Footsteps.

Heavy, deliberate footsteps. And they were approaching me.

The steps stopped just in front of me.

Whoever it was didn’t speak. Instead, I felt fingertips caress my cheeks softly.

I snapped my face to the other side, not wanting a stranger to touch me.

“Who are you? Why are you doing this?” I questioned, my voice shaking. “You’re not going to get away with this, you know. Lucian is going to find me, and when he does-”

“I wouldn’t really put my faith in Lucian right now.” The person spoke, cutting me off.

The voice was familiar. Really familiar. But I couldn’t place it.

“What do you mean?” I asked, trying to calm my racing heart.

“I left a little something for him to make sure he doesn’t come looking for you. Right now, he thinks you eloped.” He told me, mock sympathy in his tone. “Poor Lucian… was heartbroken.”

“What? What did you do you bastard?!” I was panicking now, my heart slamming against my ribs.

“Tsk tsk tsk….Do you really think you could change anything, Alina?” He chuckled darkly.

His fingers began to trail slowly up my bare leg.

“You are not God. You can’t change your fate, no matter how hard you try.”

He knew.

Whoever this was… he knew I had been reborn.

“Who are you?” My voice trembled, my whole body tense.

He didn’t respond, instead, his hands continued their ascent.

“Don’t touch me!” I screamed, twisting violently.

It was of no use, his touch was rougher now, more invasive.

I wished so badly I had not worn a dress.

I heard the unmistakable rip of fabric and cold air hit my now-exposed thighs.

“No!” I began to thrash aggressively, desperate to break free.

Hands gripped my shoulders, pinning me down, but I didn’t let that stop me-I couldn’t stop.

I continued to scream and struggle.

“Alina.”

A voice called, but it sounded so distant.

“Alina, wake up!”

I jerked awake, panting, eyes wide and frantic as they scanned my surroundings.

Tears of relief streamed down my face when I saw Lucian’s worried eyes fixed on me.

acian.

“Lucian…” I sobbed, collapsing into his embrace. “I thought… I was… he said…” I couldn’t form a coherent sentence.

“Shhhh. You’re safe now.”Lucian gently stroked my back, his touch keeping me slightly grounded. “I’m sorry I wasn’t there to protect you.” His tone was laced with apology.

I was so disoriented, I couldn’t tell what was real and what wasn’t anymore.

How did I get here? Did Lucian come get me after I passed out at the club? Or… was that terrible dream part of my reality

too?

I was confused. Dazed.

“How..?”

“Jordan got to you just in time,” Lucian said, answering my unspoken question.”You passed out from fright and the drugs in your system.”

Oh… so I was brought here directly from the club then?

Thank God the second part was just a nightmare.

But a part of me was still terrified.

The nightmare felt too real.

I could still feel his touch on me. Still hear his voice in

Was it a premonition?

my head.

Is there someone out there who knows about my rebirth… someone who would do anything to stop me from changing things?

There were so many questions I didn’t have answers to, and that made my chest tighten painfully with anxiety.

Lucian started to pull away from the embrace, but I clung to him tighter.

“No.” I protested, voice breaking.

“I’m not going anywhere, Dollface,” He promised. “I just want the doctor to take a look at you-check your bruised cheek.”

Bruised cheek?

Oh.

I was slapped. I’d almost forgotten. No wonder my face hurt.

I hadn’t even realized a doctor was already in the room.

When did he get here?

I pulled away from Lucian reluctantly, but my hand gripped his arm.

I needed to touch him.

I needed him as an anchor to keep me from drifting into panic again.

Lucian sighed, placing his hand gently over mine and giving it a little squeeze-as if assuring me that he was here, that I wasn’t alone.
