Chapter 30
ALINA’S POV,
I was in one of the many rooms in the mansion that I had converted into a home studio.
Talia had left a few hours ago, and now I was working on the designs for Seraphina.
I was done with a couple when Jordan came in.
“Madam.” He greeted with a nod.
“I said I didn’t want any disturbance, Jordan. Didn’t Maya tell you that piece of information when you asked her where I was?” I asked, my attention not leaving the sketch pad in front of me.
I knew Maya was the one who told him where I was, she was the only one who saw me coming in here.
“I’m sorry, ma’am, but it’s important.” His tone held urgency.
I sighed. “What’s up?” I finally turned to face him.
“Mr. Blackwood is requesting your presence.” He told me.
Now he had my undivided attention.
“He’s home?” I asked.
“No, ma’am. We’re going to him.” He informed me.
“Do you know what this is about?”
“No, ma’am. Ace just relayed the message to me and told me it was urgent. I didn’t ask questions.”
“Alright then. Let me go change and we can head out.” I stood up and made my way to my room.
I decided to dress casual, seeing as I didn’t know where we were headed.
I wore a sleeveless romper and boot heels. I decided to go for a cute look in case Lucian was planning a date, which was unlikely, but I didn’t want to be caught off guard.
The ride was silent, but Jordan was driving like he was in a car chase.
“Can you slow down? I’m sure whatever it is will still be there when we get there.” I told him.
“The boss asked that I be fast.” He responded nervously.
“Well, I love being alive, so slow down. Lucian can wait.” I ordered him, my tone slightly harsh.
I was a little hurt that Lucian had been ignoring me for a couple of days, and now he just ordered that I be brought to him out of the blue.
“But ma’am—”
“I won’t repeat myself.” I warned.
1/3
him put my life at risk because of fear.
Thankfully, he slowed down.
The car began to drive through a deserted part of the city that I had never been to before, and I became curious.
“Where exactly are we going?” I asked suspiciously.
“To the warehouse.” He responded simply.
A little part of me became scared, what if Jordan was taking me somewhere to hurt me?
Before my thoughts could wander too far, he pulled up in front of an old-looking building.
Relief washed through me when I caught a glimpse of Ace outside the building for a brief second before he went back in. Jordan parked the car in front of the building, stepped out, and came around to open my door for me.
I stepped out, glancing around at my environment. Where was this place, and why was Lucian here?
“Right this way, ma’am.” Jordan said, drawing my attention back to him as he led me into the building. “Whoa.” I whispered.
The inside was a huge contrast to how the outside looked, it was beautiful, with state-of-the-art training courses. There was even a shooting range too.
I admired the men and women who were engaging in one activity or the other. Some stared at me when they saw me, while others simply ignored me.
We took a staircase that led to what looked like a basement, and then we got to the steel door. The guards in front pushed the door open, and I walked in.
Lucian was the first person I noticed, I mean, why wouldn’t I? He always stood out in a room. Then my gaze did a quick sweep of the space. It looked like something out of a mafia book.
What the hell is this place?
My eyes finally flickered to a man kneeling in front of Lucian. His shirt was bloody, and his eyes were swollen, like he’d been crying.
He looked familiar, but I couldn’t place where I had met him.
“Come here, Dollface.” Lucian’s voice was surprisingly soft when he spoke to me.
My feet carried me toward him. I may have been a little upset with him, but in this building filled with strange men, save for Ace and Jordan, Lucian was the only one I trusted with my life.
Lucian’s hand went around my waist, and he pulled me to his side.
“What’s going on? Who is he?” I asked Lucian, nodding toward the kneeling man.
“You don’t recognize him?” His tone held a bit of surprise.
