Rebirth Of The Heiress And The Tycoon's Lover (Alina) novel Chapter 36

Chapter 36

AUTHOR’S POV.

“Why don’t you go ask Jessica!?” Alina spat, and with that, she stepped into her room and slammed the door in Lucian’s face.

Lucian stood there, looking stunned. He’d witnessed Alina throw tantrums before, but he knew this wasn’t a tantrum, she looked genuinely hurt.

But why? And what the hell did Jessica have to do with anything?

He turned to Ace, who was standing beside him.

“What the fuck just happened?” He asked his devoted guard.

“Madame is hurt, boss.” Ace stated the obvious.

“I can see that,” Lucian shot him a glare. “My question is why? She was fine during the car ride, what could have changed in a few minutes?”

Lucian’s genuine confusion surprised Ace. Ace was slightly puzzled that his boss didn’t know what was making his fiancée upset. Ace didn’t even have a love life, but he knew that much.

From the moment Lucian spoke about Jessica being his plus-one, Ace knew he’d messed up.

“Madame is upset because you’re asking Miss Jessica to be your plus-one to the gala.” Ace told his clueless boss.

The confusion on Lucian’s face remained.

“Why would she be upset over that?” Lucian asked.

Ace couldn’t help but think that although Lucian was the best when it came to life’s challenges and business, he was absolutely clueless when it came to women. This was why Alina always tried to run away from him in the past, he didn’t know how to express his love for her.

The only language he understood was control, possession, and domination.

“Because, naturally, you’re supposed to ask her, seeing as she’s your fiancée.” Ace elaborated.

“But Jessica has always accompanied me to every event, because Alina never agrees to go with me.” Lucian stated in

confusion.

“Boss, can I talk freely?” Ace asked.

“Go ahead.” Lucian permitted.

Ace sighed, “In the past, your relationship with Madame wasn’t good, and she did everything to stay away from you.” Ace explained. “But now the relationship between you both is better, and she expected that naturally she would be your plus- one, seeing as she’s your fiancée. But you asked another woman in her presence without considering how that would make her feel.”

“But it’s just work between Jessica and me.” Lucian tried to defend. Aside from Alina, Lucian had no eyes for any other

woman.

Everybody seems to know that fact, well aside from Alina.

“But Madame doesn’t know that.” Ace pointed out.

“Oh shit!” Lucian cursed in realization. “Shit! Shit! Shit!” He ran his hand through his hair in frustration.

“Call Jessica and tell her not to bother.” Lucian told Ace quickly.

“I didn’t call her in the first place, boss.” Ace told him.

Lucian shot him a grateful look. “So how do I fix this?”

“It differs with every woman.” Ace explained. “Some like to be left alone for a while, but others want to be immediately coaxed.”

Lucian stood there for a few minutes contemplating what to do, then a thought crossed his mind. He’d never seen Ace with a woman before, so how did Ace know all of this? Shaking the thought off, he spoke.

“Ask Maya to prepare all of Alina’s favorite meals, and after that, I need you to contact designer Amy. I want to see all her latest dress designs here later today, along with matching jewelry and shoes.” Lucian instructed.

“I will get right on it, boss.” Ace nodded before taking his leave.

Lucian stared at Alina’s closed door for a few minutes before finally walking away with a sigh.

Meanwhile, Alina, fresh from the bathroom with a towel wrapped around her, walked toward the door and pressed her ear gently against it to see if she could make out a sound, but there was none.

Alina could have sworn she heard voices, she was surprised that Lucian did not break down her door demanding she speak to him, that was what he usually did in the past.

She wouldn’t say she didn’t like the space he gave her, though, she did. She had time to think things through and even seek advice.

Alina decided to call her friend to ask for her own two cents regarding the matter.

“So you haven’t spoken to him since then?” Talia asked her friend after she’d narrated everything.

“Yes.” Alina responded. “Do you think I overreacted?” Alina bit her lip nervously.

“I mean, you could have handled it a lot differently, without the whole drama, but you were hurt, so I can understand.” Talia told her.

“What hurts me the most is how clueless he is. He was so comfortable making plans with this Jessica girl in my presence, without even caring how that made me feel.” Alina’s voice was filled with hurt.

“I’ll be honest with you,” Talia sighed over the phone. “While I admit that your fiancé is clueless, you weren’t the easiest in the past Alina, he probably just assumed you wouldn’t want to go with him.”

“Why wouldn’t I want to go?” Alina asked, confused.

Talia scoffed. “You never wanted to go anywhere with him before Alina, so he’d always show up to events like this with Jessica Mendez. This one is on you girl.”

Oh.

Alina knew her friend was right, but she was too hurt to care.

“You know her?” She asked instead.

“You don’t?” Talia retorted, shocked. “Do you even know anything about your fiancé? Jessica is his secretary, she’s been that for as long as I remember. Pretty thing, might I add.”

Talia was right though, Alina realize there was a lot she didn’t know about Lucian unless the basic and it was high time she changed that.

“Talia!” Alina whined, glaring at the space in front of her.

“What? She’s pretty hot. I’m not going to lie about that. You’re lucky Mr. Blackwood only has eyes for you. If I were a man, I’d definitely tap that.” Talia’s tone was filled with honest bluntness, and that did nothing to make her friend feel at ease.

“You’re not helping.” Alina spat out.

“Fine, why don’t you just tell him why you’re upset? It’ll make this whole thing less complicated.” Talia suggested.

“No!” Alina protested instantly. “It’ll make him think I’m jealous or something.” She grumbled under her breath.
