Rebirth Revenge Is Everything (Ariana) novel Chapter 125

Her words succeeded in making the atmosphere even more tense. Old Mr. Stone put down his cutlery with a "clap", rose to his feet, and said to Lambert: "Follow me to the study!"

Old Mrs. Stone glanced at Ariana before leaving alongside Old Mr. Stone.

Lambert did not utter a word, only silently rising to his feet and following along.

As soon as they entered the study, Old Mr. Stone positioned himself in front of the desk with a grim expression. After a brief silence, he turned to Lambert with a serious look and asked, "You tell me first, what exactly is going on between you two?"

Old Mr. Stone could somewhat comprehend that Lambert is kind towards Ariana, and has seen him upset on her behalf. However, things regarding Ariana are far too complex.

Also, after hearing what Beverly had said, Old Mr. Stone felt there was something off about Ariana, thus he wanted to confirm the status of their relationship.

Old Mrs. Stone was aware that the couple had a rushed marriage and that they probably still had a lot of things to adjust to in life, so she chose to play peacemaker. "It’s said that in a marriage, couples quarrel at the beginning of the night but reconcile by the end. It might be best if we stay out of this for now. I observed that they got along pretty well this morning. But..."

She paused and sternly told Lambert: "You're only newlyweds, so constantly sleeping separately will give people something to gossip about. You should communicate more and stop having these conflicts."

Lambert responded with a faint smile, simply saying, "Yes."

Downstairs, apart from the worried expressions on the faces of Hugh and his wife, everyone else looked calm or as if they were enjoying a show.

Only Ariana seemed oblivious to it all, exhibiting a complete lack of concern.

As she elegantly finished the dish Lambert cooked. Everyone assumed by her reaction that it couldn't have been too bad.

However, after Ariana finished eating, her stomach became a little uncomfortable.

This time, Lambert's cooking... was indeed... Hard to put into words ...

Aunt Khloe, disliking Ariana's calm demeanor, couldn't help but jab at Jolene, who had a worried expression, "sister-in-law, if I were you, my heart would ache to death. I’d wonder what kind of daughter-in-law was brought into the house. Letting her husband sleep in the study every day.”

Jolene heard this and her complexion turned even worse.

Ariana gracefully picked up her napkin and lightly wiped the corners of her mouth, speaking calmly, "You're overthinking, Lambert and I have our own way of getting along."

"Our own way of getting along? Making him sleep in the study?" Khloe and Aster laughed contemptuously at her words.

Ariana smiled faintly, "Are you questioning the relationship between Lambert and me?"

With that, she looked at the dining table, "May I ask, how many times have you eaten a meal cooked by your husbands?"

The two paused momentarily, awkwardly glancing at their own husbands, their eyes filled with obvious resentment.

Although the dishes made by Lambert were not exceptional, at least he put effort into them. Unlike their husbands who besides their work, wouldn't even lift a finger to do anything.

When Jolene heard Ariana say this, she breathed a sigh of relief.

While washing the dishes, Ariana felt a little bloated.

Upon hearing Khloe's instigating words, Aster was even more livid. "Ariana, how can you talk to your elders in such a manner?"

Ariana calmly replied, "Second Aunt, you've misunderstood. I was mildly surprised, considering you usually don't handle these things."

Aster retorted with a cold chuckle, "Ariana! Indeed, I don't do these tasks, and that is because I don't play games like you and your mother-in-law. Servants can handle these tasks, but you people like to show off."

"The way you say this, Aunt, is not quite right. After all, this is home – there’s nothing wrong with participating in some chores."

Although servants are paid to do the tasks, they occasionally slack off. If the owner often supervises, not only will it reinforce the servant's compliance, but they will also be more cautious and meticulous.

Seeing Ariana's quick replies, Khloe couldn't help but taunt, "Look at how talented this little one is with words, Second sis-in-law, seems like you can hardly compete with her."

Khloe's words only further incited Aster, and she glared at Ariana, mockingly saying, "The White family's upbringing is quite concerning. As an elder, I just said a few words and you started to talk back! As a married woman, you should understand that you're no longer as free as before. Every action of yours can potentially provoke people to criticize and mock your parents!"

Ariana said, "Aunt, you've gone too far. Even as juniors, we still have the right to voice our opinions when elders are being unreasonable. If elders constantly use their seniority to oppress us, that's simply 'bullying with age'."

"You!"

Aster was so provoked that she reached out to slap Ariana. Ariana didn't dodge. The sudden push caused her to stagger backward and crash into cleaned dishes by the sink.

The sharp noise of the collision of porcelain resounded, causing Ariana to cringe. She felt a dull pain from the impact on her waist and her complexion turned slightly pale.

"Ah..."
