In the Afternoon.
Ariana, holding a few books, opens the car door, only to see Jane sitting inside the car with red-rimmed eyes. She raises her eyebrows slightly in surprise.
Of course, she knows what Jane has experienced today. But, she still pretends to be surprised and asks worriedly, "Jane, what happened to you?"
Jane grits her teeth and glances at her, shaking her head silently. However, in her heart, she wishes she could tear Ariana into pieces.
If it hadn't been for her misleading words in the morning, those women would not have had the chance to bully her.
Ariana smiles, "That's good then."
Afterward, she could not be bothered to entertain Jane and turned to read her books instead.
Even though she's still of school-going age in this body, Ariana's psychological age has long graduated, and she has almost forgotten many concepts.
Ariana decided to get several books for revision so that her academic performance doesn't become her weakness.
Moreover, she wants to finish her school studies as soon as possible, so she can focus more on the company, and not give Vincent too much time to find loopholes.
Jane saw Ariana being so diligent and found it somewhat strange, so she decided to ask, "Sister, what are you doing?"
Ariana's grades have always been enviably good, but she has never seen Ariana work so hard, so this feels a bit odd.
She brushes it off casually, "Oh, nothing. It's just that I have nothing else to do, so I thought I'd read a bit more."
"Oh."
Jane frowns slightly but doesn't ask any further.
When they returned to the White family's house, the driver unexpectedly bypassed Ariana's door and respectfully opened the car door for Jane.
Since Jane had been without parents from a young age, Gilbert and Georgia had mostly indulged her. Hence, Jane herself hadn't expected Gilbert to be this angry.
Her knees felt weak, and she shakily said, "Uncle."
Gilbert threw a newspaper onto the table, pointing at it he coldly asked, "Care to explain what exactly is going on?"
The headline of the newspaper read, "Elite Family in Chaos: The Second Miss White Has Had an Abortion, And Shifted the Blame to Older Sister." The content beneath was equally sharp, essentially asserting that Jane was jealous of her perfect elder sister, deliberately pinning the abortion affair on her, which slightly raised Ariana's brows.
It also mentions Jane's close relations with her male classmates, accompanied by real photos that portray Jane in the company of boys.
Ariana hadn't expected such media sensationalism, the more she thought about it, the messier it seemed. It was clear to her that someone gave those pictures to the media to add more spice to the news. Nonetheless, it was quite consistent with Jane's conduct.
Now, let's see how Jane clears her name.
