Due to the current turmoil between the White and Lawrence families, there seems to be always a swarm of reporters keen on probing the inside story of the White family. Thus, during this period, Ariana and Lambert had been living elsewhere - in Lambert's own villa.
Although it wasn't grand, he had initially purchased it intending to gift it to a potential lover. Since he had to feign the image of a wastrel, having romantic companions was inevitable. And once you had a lover, these small gestures were common. However, everything changed when Ariana unexpectedly came into his life.
Consequently, the villa he purchased was never passed on to his 'next lover’.
Fortunately, he hadn't done so, otherwise he would have lost all his property.
Ariana liked this place.
Although the villa wasn't as grand as her house, it was more than adequate for them both. It was a good environment to create some lovely romantic moments, especially for Lambert.
After staying for a few days, Lambert suggested, "What if we settle down here?"
Ariana blinked at Lambert, then teased, "Why, don't you want to stay in the White family house anymore?"
Lambert replied sincerely, "Yes."
Then, he gently squinted his eyes, wrapped his arm around Ariana, whispering in her ear, "Honestly, I never wanted to live there in the first place."
Ariana felt a bit uncomfortable, particularly with the warmth around her neck, which caused her to blush involuntarily.
But she couldn’t push him away by any means…
Helplessly, Ariana could only tolerate Lambert's behavior, and pretended to get mad, saying, "Well then, you were just pretending to enjoy living in the White family house to deceive my parents?"
Lambert squinted his eyes slightly, then chuckled, "Yes."
Ariana was taken aback.
Then, she heard Lambert's next sentence. He said, "I've always wanted to do it in the living room, in the kitchen. I've heard it feels good that way. But with in-laws around, the conditions are never permissible. So I've long not wanted to live that way."
Ariana was speechless.
She never anticipated that merely putting up with him once, would result in him driving off unexpectedly, leaving her in a rush of commotion.
She pursed her lips quietly, then indignantly retorted, "What are you talking about?" Then she pushed away Lambert.
Deprived of the warmth in his embrace, Lambert felt slightly regretful.
Ariana had no hint of regret. She coldly glared at someone, then said, "Professor Stone, isn't it time for you to go teach?"
The thought of his professorship made Lambert let out a small sigh.
He nodded slightly, "I will go soon, after all, this is my only job right now, I can't mess it up. If I do, how would I support you? Especially considering how much you eat."
Ariana fell silent again, "It's you who eats a lot!"
…
Finally, fearing that further delay would really make him late, Lambert left with reluctance after changing his clothes.
Ariana watched with a smile as Lambert left.
Actually, she was supposed to go to class today too, but she had taken leave owing to her injury.
After all, if she'd gone to school as usual, the Lawrence family who were secretly looking for trouble would probably manipulate the media once they knew, and write all sorts of things. They might claim she was perfectly fine and so on. She believed that the Lawrence family was capable of doing this. Coincidentally, she wanted to take a break in these days, so taking a temporary leave was in line with her wish.
However, Lambert wasn't so pleased.
This was where Griffin was inferior to Lambert.
Therefore, he could not help but speak first.
He asked, "How is Ariana now?"
Hearing him inquire about his wife, Lambert's expression instantly became even more unpleasant. He retorted coldly, "Ari is doing well, but whether she's well or not has nothing to do with you, right, Mr. Meadows? You didn't call me here simply to ask about this, did you?"
Looking at the cold-faced Lambert, Griffin suddenly curled up his lip corners, revealing a smirk, "I really don't know how Ariana could like someone like you. You clearly... are just not good enough for her."
Lambert's eyes instantly hardened.
He retorted, "Whether I'm good enough, you'll find out later. But you, I can only say that you'll never be good enough."
Just as expected, Griffin, who couldn't match Lambert’s quick wit, suddenly changed his expression.
Lambert was in high spirits watching this, but he didn't back down and continued, "Regardless, I will never harm Ari. As for you? Tsk-tsk, claiming to like Ari yet conspire with Beverly to hurt her. Is this your so-called love? Huh?"
This issue has been the biggest pain in Griffin’s heart these days.
And also his biggest regret.
Thus, in an instant, his face turned extremely pale. Then, he defended himself in a low voice and hoarsely, “I had no idea that Beverly would do such a thing to Ari. Throughout, I didn't know!”
Lambert didn’t care, he just replied coldly, “Oh.”
Whether he knew it or not, anyway, now that the threat posed by this love rival was gone, Lambert was delighted! It was thanks to this man’s lack of intelligence, before Lambert could take a swing, he had already dealt with himself. According to Ariana’s character, regardless of whether Griffin knew about this incident or not, whether he took part, they definitely wouldn’t even be friends in the future.
