Ariana gave a deadpan glance at Lambert and said, "Who did you learn this from, again? Watching Korean dramas?"
Lambert chuckled and said, "From Assistant Hills."
Ariana touched her forehead and said, "Very well, tell him I'll remember him."
Lambert burst into laughter upon hearing this.
Ariana looked helpless and signaled for him to start driving immediately. Lambert just grinned and obediently did so. In the next second, Lambert started the engine, and the car swiftly began to move. By the time Maxwell and the others came out, all they could see was a car disappearing into the distance.
Maxwell shrugged nonchalantly and got into his own car.
The rest of the group felt a bit awkward. They had assumed that Maxwell would arrange a ride for them as well, at least for the girls.
But it turned out that Maxwell didn't intend to look out for them.
Lexie's face became stiff for a moment, then she softly asked Maxwell, "Senior, could I hitch a ride with you? It's quite late now and it might be difficult to hail a cab," she said with an apologetic expression.
Maxwell, sitting in the car, glanced at her and said lightly, "Sure."
Lexie's eyes lit up and she quickly got into the car.
The other female students' eyes were filled with envy, and some followed Lexie's lead. Maxwell's eyebrows furrowed slightly, and after allowing two more girls to get in the car, he impatiently said to the currently inquiring Flora, "Don't you see it's full?"
Flora's face suddenly froze.
Lexie, sitting in the car, paused for a moment. She did not turn her head to look at Flora, even though she knew Flora was certainly looking at her.
But this car indeed couldn't accommodate that many people.
Furthermore, she really didn't want more girls involved. Handling these two girls was already too much for her. She had initially planned to chat with Maxwell on the ride, but it appeared unlikely, given the current circumstances. So, when met with Flora's confrontational gaze, Lexie pretended not to notice it.
Flora's face started to look increasingly displeased.
However, Maxwell ignored the expression and ordered the driver to start the journey.
...
Meanwhile, sitting in Lambert's car, Ariana didn't seem as at ease as she appeared.
She was still thinking about the waiter that she met earlier.
There was a sense of familiarity she couldn't shake off, as if she had encountered her somewhere before. But she just couldn't remember it!
Ariana is quite stubborn. The more she couldn't remember, the more she tried to. Submerged in her thoughts, her eyes abruptly paused and she exclaimed, "Jane! Yes, that girl looks just like Jane!"
Since getting in the car, Ariana had remained lost in her thoughts, responding perfunctorily to anything Lambert said.
It reached a point where Lambert didn't feel like talking anymore.
Yet, emotion trumped reason. Even though Ariana ignored him, it didn't stop him from speaking. So, while he was in the middle of his discourse, Ariana suddenly blurted out, looking at him in astonishment as she remarked, "If I had known that she looked like Jane, I wouldn't have defended her."
While the girl seemed to differ from Jane in her quiet demeanor, the resemblance brought down her impression significantly in Ariana's mind.
Jane was the person she hated the most.
They were afraid of accidentally pouring salt on Jane's wounds.
If that girl turns out to be Jane's sister, well... things are going to get interesting.
Although the girl looks very different from Jane.
Lambert nodded slightly. He was not interested in these matters, and simply asked, "So, what are you planning to do?"
Ariana was slightly stunned: "Me?"
Lambert chuckled lightly, "Yes. If that girl is really Jane's sister, do you plan to tell Mom and Dad?" Lambert was pretty bored right now, so he didn't mind chatting with Ariana about topics he would normally find uninteresting. Considering Jane's situation, he felt it would be best to keep it a secret. After all, it would be quite troublesome if another Jane were raised unknowingly.
Of course, he was thinking from the perspective of his wife. As for what to do, the decision was still in his wife's hands.
No matter what decision she made, he had no objection.
Ariana was clearly stunned. She hadn't thought about this problem before. Now that Lambert has brought it up, she was a little overwhelmed and had no immediate answer.
Lambert casually said, "You should think it over. The White family is essentially in your hands now. If Jane's sister does appear, it may be detrimental to you. However, if you want to challenge yourself, I have no objection. I'm just a little worried about you. After all, if you're unlucky and the other party turns out to be someone like Jane, it could be quite troublesome, and you might be the one who suffers most in the end.”
Ariana managed a wry smile.
She quietly glanced at Lambert, then said, "Let's talk about it later. I'll verify first to see if the girl is actually jane's sister or not."
Lambert shrugged, "Okay."
