Stefan mused that if Lambert knew what he was thinking right now, he would undoubtedly kill him without regard for their bond of brotherhood.
"What a blockhead!"
It's as if you knew about this before!
After all, this was Finley's wedding ceremony. There were a lot of people around, which is why Stefan didn't talk with Lambert about anything important. They just chatted aimlessly for a while.
Stefan glanced at the stars of today's show and nudged Lambert, asking, "What's your old man's intention?"
Lambert took a quick look and replied, "Nothing much."
Stefan knitted his eyebrows, "If it's nothing, why has he made this wedding so grandiose? The scale of this ceremony is a bit over the top."
Lambert said dismissively, "The second uncle financed this wedding. Why would the old man object since it's not his money?" Hence, if the second uncle wanted to make it grand then they could.
Such was Lambert's thoughts.
Of course, the old man probably thought the same.
Stefan widened his eyes in surprise. "But your old man still gave his tacit approval. I'm warning you, Lambert, you better be careful."
The corner of Lambert's mouth curved upwards, revealing an emotionless smile. Indeed, the grandiose wedding organized by the second uncle and aunt did have the old man's tacit consent. However, it also implied that the old man wouldn't interfere in anything. The extravagance of the ceremony made it appear as though the old man favored Finley.
This was a bit disturbing to the old man.
But since it wasn't a big deal, he didn't say anything.
Consequently, the second uncle and aunt were even more triumphant. At first, they were careful, afraid the old man would reproach them for such a luxurious wedding. So, they tested the waters gingerly. Seeing no reaction from the old man, they wondered if he also favored Finely.
Yet, they had no idea that the old man was merely trying to make Lambert's test more difficult.
Thankfully, he didn't know that Lambert, who the old man initially used as a whetstone for his own son, had now ironically become the whetstone for his son. If he had known, he would have gone insane!
...
Three days after Finley's wedding had ended, the movement came from Ariana.
She was going into labor.
Lambert didn't want to recall the events of that night; he had never been as pale as he was then. He stood anxiously outside the operation room, waiting for any news. Despite knowing that with the advancements in current technology, both mother and child wouldn't face any danger, he couldn’t help but worry.
The entire Stone family had also arrived.
The Old Mr. Stone and the old lady sat outside in the resting area. Though they didn’t speak, their nervous anticipation was still visible on their faces.
Even though they had been saying all along that they were fine with either a grandson or a granddaughter.
Deep down, they still wanted a great-grandson.
Almost four hours after Ariana was rushed in, the cry of a newborn echoed from the operation room, followed by a nurse exiting the room. The Old Mr. Stone and the old lady also moved forward. The nurse glanced at them, smiled, and said, "It's a boy, both mother and child are safe."
At that moment, Old Mr. Stone's face broke out into a delighted smile.
The old lady was exactly the same.
They were overjoyed.
