Allison didn't quite grasp what Ariana meant, so she instinctively asked, "What?"
Ariana repeated herself, enunciating each word clearly, "I said I won't let them get away with this." No matter who it was... anyone who dared to harm her son, she would never let them off the hook! No matter the cost—
At this moment, Ariana, consumed by rage and anxiety, was almost beyond reason.
She felt as if her sanity was on the brink of collapse.
If it weren't for the fact that she knew Lucian was still waiting for her to save him, Ariana would have truly lost it. Now, she finally understood how her Uncle must have felt back then.
Allison paused for a moment, then said softly, "I know. I won't let them get away with it either."
How dare they lay a finger on her godson!
She would make sure those kidnappers paid dearly!
She wouldn't rest until Stefan made them regret ever being born!
However, she had a feeling that Ariana's "them" wasn't just referring to the kidnators. But now was definitely not the time for a deep conversation, so Allison didn't press further. She simply watched Ariana in silence, her eyes filled with worry and a complex mix of emotions.
After a while, seeing that Ariana's complexion had improved slightly after eating something, Allison felt a bit relieved and decided to change the subject. "By the way, when is Lambert coming back?"
Ariana's eyes flickered, and she replied, "I don't know."
Allison was slightly taken aback. "You haven't called him?"
Ariana's lips curled into a sardonic smile. "The old man forbade it. Said we shouldn't disturb him during this project." In the past, Ariana wouldn't have cared what he said. But this time, she sensed something was off. So she didn't argue, and she didn't call Lambert either.
Old Mr. Stone probably thought Ariana had finally learned how to be a proper Stone family daughter-in-law.
Ariana, however, was preoccupied with the thought that this incident might be a conspiracy. Despite her reluctance to entertain such ideas, the presence of Arnold alongside Lambert inevitably led her mind down that path.
Regardless of the circumstances, she fervently hoped that neither the first nor the second branch of the family was involved. If they were, she was determined to deliver a retaliatory gift that would leave them thoroughly satisfied. She would make them understand the true meaning of pain—some people only seem to feel it when it’s inflicted upon them directly, allowing them to act with impunity. She would teach them a lesson they wouldn’t forget, showing them what it truly means to be human.
She could only hope that Lucian’s predicament had nothing to do with anyone from the Stone family. If it did, she wouldn’t hesitate to act, regardless of her relationship with Lambert. She was a woman of her word.
Allison observed the expression on Ariana’s face and couldn’t help but sigh inwardly. She glanced at the clock, growing increasingly anxious about the lack of news from Stefan. The longer they waited, the greater the danger Lucian was in. Moreover, Ariana’s health was also a concern. They couldn’t afford to delay any longer.
