Rebirth Revenge Is Everything (Ariana) novel Chapter 466

This was no trivial matter.

With Beverly personally pointing fingers, there was no way Ariana could avoid being dragged into it. So, the moment she returned from work, she was summoned to the Stone family's main residence.

After listening to Old Mr. Stone's accusations, Ariana responded calmly, stating she was willing to undergo any investigation. She had never laid a finger on Alvin.

Yet, the instant Lambert heard this, his gaze darkened, cold as centuries-old ice. Just as he was about to speak, Ariana stopped him with a subtle shake of her head, signaling him to stay out of it. Years of marriage had forged an unspoken understanding between them. One look from her, and Lambert grasped the situation.

A realization struck him.

Unless he was mistaken, Ariana already knew about this.

And if she knew, she wouldn’t let herself be harmed. The thought eased the tension in his chest. By the time he turned his attention back to the others, his expression had returned to its usual indifference.

Old Mr. Stone, seeing Lambert’s lack of reaction, felt a flicker of relief. His grandson had finally learned restraint, knowing when to prioritize reason over emotion. He approved.

What he didn’t know was that Lambert’s calm stemmed from confidence in Ariana’s safety. Had it been otherwise, composure would have been impossible.

With Old Mr. Stone personally overseeing the investigation, the truth wouldn’t stay buried for long.

Since Gwen and Beverly were the only witnesses to the incident, Gwen became the primary suspect under scrutiny.

Beverly had been certain everything was foolproof.

But for some inexplicable reason, Gwen refused to speak—neither defending herself nor saying anything else. Beverly's face darkened instantly, her stomach twisting with dread that this one hitch might unravel her entire scheme.

Fortunately, Gwen hadn’t implicated her, so while unease gnawed at her, it wasn’t outright panic.

Still, an inexplicable sense of foreboding clung to her like a shadow, restless and suffocating, making sleep impossible.

...

The investigation dragged on for days.

Throughout it all, Ariana remained at the Stone Family residence instead of going to work. It wasn’t Old Mr. Stone’s demand—she had chosen to stay of her own accord.

This, at least, earned her a sliver of grudging approval from the old man.

As for everyone else, they came and went freely.

Meanwhile, Beverly sat in the Castro Family's household, her mother by her side. Silent tears streaked her cheeks, her mother’s face etched with heartache. Across from them, Mr. and Mrs. Castro wore unreadable expressions, neither speaking. Finally, Mrs. Castro broke the silence.

"Stop crying. Maybe things aren’t as they seem. We’ll know once the investigation concludes."

Beverly’s voice was hoarse from weeping. "Then who else could it be? Aunt, Ariana has always resented me for once being Lambert’s fiancée. She’s sabotaged me at every turn—what happened to me in the Stone Family household was her doing. I thought divorcing Arnold and leaving the family would put an end to it. But I never imagined she’d go after my child."
