Rebirth Revenge Is Everything (Ariana) novel Chapter 471

Gwen could only be considered an accomplice in this matter.

Since she later came clean with the truth, Old Mr. Stone decided not to punish her and simply let her go home.

But Gwen remained silent.

She glanced at the old man, her expression resolute—she didn’t want to leave. She wanted to stay at the hospital to watch over Alvin.

Afraid that Gwen might provoke the old man’s anger again, the second branch of the family quickly interjected, "What’s the point of you staying here? The hospital is full of people keeping an eye on Alvin. He’ll be fine."

Gwen frowned but stood her ground, unmoving.

No matter how many meaningful looks Aster shot her way, she remained completely unaffected, as if she hadn’t noticed at all.

Her stubbornness, however, earned her a measure of respect from Old Mrs. Stone.

The elderly woman studied Gwen for a long moment before finally saying, "If you insist on staying, then go ahead."

Gwen’s face lit up with joy. She nodded eagerly. "Thank you, Grandma."

Meanwhile, the second branch’s expressions darkened instantly.

Ariana cast a glance in Gwen’s direction, and their eyes met briefly. An unspoken exchange passed between them—one that no one else could decipher.

With that, the farce came to an end.

The old couple signaled for everyone to disperse. The second branch had been itching to leave and wasted no time exiting the main house as soon as they were dismissed. Ariana, however, walked away in silence beside Lambert. As for Hugh and Jolene, they naturally left together as well.

Along the way, Jolene let out a sigh of relief. "Thank goodness Gwen told the truth in the end. Otherwise, Ariana would have fallen right into Beverly’s trap."

At this thought, Jolene still felt a lingering fear in her heart.

Ariana gave a faint smile, the corners of her lips curling slightly. "Don't worry, Mom. It's not that easy for her to harm me."

Jolene nodded with a gentle smile. "That's true. After all, Grandma and Grandpa see things clearly. They wouldn’t doubt you just because of Beverly’s petty schemes. But Ariana, even though we dodged it this time, you still need to be more careful from now on. I know Alvin is a pitiful child, but it’s best to avoid any unnecessary contact with him if possible."

Jolene had always been a kind-hearted woman.

Yet years of navigating the treacherous waters of high society had left her perpetually cautious. Every step she took was measured, every move deliberate—all to avoid bringing trouble upon herself and Hugh.

Now, seeing her daughter-in-law facing even greater challenges than she once had, Jolene couldn’t help but feel a pang of sorrow and protectiveness. There wasn’t much she could do to help, but at the very least, she could share some hard-earned wisdom.

Hugh understood the meaning behind his wife’s words. She was afraid Ariana might fall into another trap if she interacted with Alvin again. But he didn’t agree. With Beverly completely out of the picture, she was unlikely to reappear in the Stone family. And if Ariana were to start avoiding Alvin altogether—pretending not to see him—it would only deepen the scars on the boy’s young heart.

So he shook his head and said, "That’s unnecessary. Alvin has already lost his parents. If he’s treated differently now, it’ll only make things worse for him."

Jolene frowned.

But Hugh held firm to his stance. In his eyes, his elder brother and sister-in-law would never return. Though Lambert wasn’t directly responsible for their downfall, their fate was still tied to his actions. Despite the pain their attempted kidnapping of his grandson had caused, seeing them end up this way left Hugh with a complicated mix of emotions.

A quiet guilt gnawed at him from time to time.

So when he heard his wife speak so dismissively of his brother’s only grandson, he couldn’t stay silent.

Ariana narrowed her eyes slightly.

She and Lambert walked behind, so her in-laws didn't catch the silent exchange between them.
