Rebirth Revenge Is Everything (Ariana) novel Chapter 508

Irene was usually quite the social butterfly.

Though she often played the delicate, fragile type, her people skills were nothing to scoff at. But faced with Ariana, she found herself utterly speechless, her face cycling between pale and flushed with humiliation.

Ariana had no interest in wasting more words on her. After delivering her piece, she turned her head slightly, casting a frosty glance at Lambert, who was still half-reclined on the hospital bed.

"Let's go," she said coolly.

Being ordered around like this was a first for Lambert. His eyes narrowed slightly, but then the corner of his lips curled up in amusement as he slowly pushed himself upright, putting on a pitiful act as if resigned to following Ariana home.

Irene couldn’t stand it any longer.

Biting her lip, she spoke up indignantly, "Mrs. Stone, I know it’s not my place to say this, but don’t you think you’re being too harsh? Lambe—your husband is injured. Can’t you see that?"

Ariana smiled.

She turned her head slowly, her gaze unwavering as it locked onto Irene’s furious expression. "I see it," she said, her voice measured.

Irene: "If you see it, then why—"

Before she could finish, Ariana cut her off coldly. "Lambert is my husband. I’ll treat him however I please. That’s between us—it has nothing to do with you, Miss Harper. If you don’t like it, go find your ex-husband, or better yet, get yourself a new boyfriend. How my husband and I interact is none of your concern."

Irene trembled with anger, her eyes reddening. She bit her lip and turned her pleading gaze toward Lambert.

But at that moment, Lambert was still watching Ariana. Only when he sensed Irene’s stare did he finally glance her way, his tone indifferent.

"She’s right. My wife and I will handle our own affairs—no need for your concern, Miss Harper. As for this scrape, consider the matter closed. Just be more careful next time you’re behind the wheel."

Lambert was never one to show tenderness toward women.

Though Irene had spoken up in his defense, Lambert believed he didn’t need anyone to pretend they were on his side, acting as if they were considering his interests. There was no denying it—Lambert was far from selfless.

He was an utterly selfish man.

If he didn’t like Ariana, he wouldn’t need anyone else’s help to deal with her—he’d handle it himself. But he *did* like Ariana, so to him, all of this was just part of the game—even something to relish.

Seeing Lambert’s indifference, Irene’s expression grew even more sorrowful. She forced a faint, bitter smile and said, "If that’s the case, I’ll take my leave." With that, she slowly turned away, picked up her bag, and walked out of the hospital.

Her retreating figure looked utterly desolate enough to soften the hearts of anyone who saw it.

Even Assistant Hills’s eyes flickered with a trace of complexity. *Seems the boss’s first love is quite the strategist,* he mused.

After a quiet sigh, Assistant Hills hesitated for a moment before stepping forward. "Boss, if there’s nothing else, I’ll head out now."

Lambert couldn’t be bothered to even glance at him. "Mhm," he grunted dismissively.

Suppressing an internal eye-roll at his boss’s attitude, Assistant Hills bid farewell to Ariana as well before finally making his exit.
