Georgia was still downstairs, instructing the servants about some matters. When Ariana returned, she would inevitably bump into her.
Jane originally planned to rely on Georgia to scold Ariana for returning late,
Unexpectedly, as she went downstairs, she saw that Ariana was already speaking with Georgia.
Although Georgia was a bit upset about Ariana returning so late, her anger was soothed by Ariana's explanation.
Ariana half-coquettishly held onto Georgia's hand, "Mom, I just went to the movies with Vincent, and we had a meal together beforehand."
Hearing that it was with Vincent, Georgia felt somewhat relieved.
Yet she still spoke with slight annoyance, "You two are not married yet, don't always come home this late, it doesn't sound good if it gets spread around."
Ariana smiled slightly and nodded, "Alright."
At this point, her gaze caught Jane descending the stairs.
She raised an eyebrow slightly, calling out, "Jane?"
Jane paused, her lips moved slightly, and made an excuse, "Sister, you're home. I'm coming downstairs to get a glass of water."
She gnashed her teeth slightly, resenting Ariana for soothing Georgia so quickly with a few words.
Ariana didn't say much, simply responding, "Oh!"
Jane casually brought up a topic, asking, "What movie did you watch with Vincent?"
"Love." Ariana narrowed her eyes, smiling lightly.
Jane was taken aback, her face becoming very unpleasant.
Love?
She remembered that this was the film she once wanted to watch with Vincent, but it was canceled due to Ariana's intrusion.
Tears welled up in her eyes in an instant. Did Ariana do it on purpose? Or did Vincent knowingly take Ariana despite knowing that she wanted to watch it with him?
But no matter what, it was Ariana's fault!
If it weren't for Ariana, Vincent wouldn't have taken her, and she wouldn't have to constantly endure Ariana!
Seeing her unpleasant expression, Ariana intentionally provoked her with a happy face, "I found it quite touching, I never expected Vincent to also want to watch this kind of artistic film."
Perhaps it was guilt, Jane froze for a moment, then quickly explained: "Maybe...he just heard about it from someone else."
"That's right!" Ariana responded.
Jane felt her nerves tightening as she heard Ariana continue: "He said he heard it from his secretary."
"I see..." Jane gritted her teeth slightly.
Ariana glanced at her subtly, noticing Jane's palm was already red from her clenching.
Jealous?
Jane should have known that being with a never-satisfied man like Vincent would lead to this day.
Seeing Ariana enjoying herself, Georgia didn't say anything else, "Don't be so late next time."
She paused for a moment and then remembered that there was a feast coming up soon. She instructed, "There will be a birthday banquet in a few days. When you and Jane have time, go to the shop to get fitted for your dresses."
But... if she goes now, there will be no need for Jane to go.
After all, in the eyes of others, the one invited is Ariana and her parents, not Jane.
Georgia hesitated for a bit, somewhat troubled as she looked at Jane, "I'm sorry, Jane. When we find a suitable time, we will register you officially, and it will be much more convenient for you to go out with us."
At this point, Jane is still not considered their child. If they blatantly took her to such an important event, they would receive criticism, and it could affect Ariana's reputation.
"It's okay, Auntie." Jane forced a smile.
Before Georgia could say anything, Ariana reached out to grab Jane's hand, gently patting it in a tremendously soft voice, "Don't worry, Jane. Once you're registered, we will be able to attend together."
Jane was taken aback by Ariana's affectionate gesture, but her mood improved a little.
"Okay."
Seeing Ariana behaving so obediently, all of Georgia's previous annoyances disappeared like smoke in thin air.
After a few more minutes of casual conversation, Ariana bid Georgia goodnight before leisurely heading upstairs.
Jane was enraged when she thought that Ariana and Vincent had gone to the movies, had been very affectionate at the doorstep, and also learned that Ariana was going to attend the banquet—among other things. When she returned to her room, she lost her temper and began throwing things around.
The photos on the desk, which Jane had intentionally put there to show Gilbert and Georgia, were all thrown to the ground.
Ariana's photo was viciously stepped on by Jane, her face menacing as she gritted her teeth and cursed, "Ariana! One day, I will take everything of yours, everything!"
Your parents, your fiancé, your property!
Ariana, on the other hand, just come out from a bath when she heard from Serene that as soon as Jane returned to her room, she was throwing things around in a fit and then asked Serene to clean up after her, which made Serene quite displeased and she was complaining a lot about it.
