Lambert smiled and said, "What if I say it's true?"
In his experience, he had never come across a woman like Ariana, who appeared gentle on the surface but hid sharp claws underneath. Even more interesting was the fact that if someone upset her, she would seize the opportunity and never let go.
He was curious as to how Vincent had never discovered Ariana's true temperament, or was it that this woman always maintained a frail façade in front of the man she loved?
Listening to his words, Ariana felt a shiver run down her spine and said chillingly, "Then I must indeed be unfortunate..."
Wouldn't it be pitiful to be targeted by a playboy?
"Haha.."
Lambert laughed at her candid remark and chuckled lightly.
This was the first time Ariana saw Lambert genuinely laughing, the shallow dimples that appeared on his face dissipated some of his cunning vibe.
He drew her closer by her waist, lowered his voice, and said, "Far from unfortunate... All the women in this city want to marry me, yet only you succeeded."
Lambert's attitude implied that Ariana was the lucky one and had no reason to reject him, almost making her spit blood in frustration.
What a Casanova...
She gave a dry laugh and replied insincerely, "It's indeed my fortune to be able to marry you..."
If it wasn't for Lambert's ability to counterbalance Vincent in the end, she would choose to distance herself further from this man!
Sometimes she felt inexplicably attracted to Lambert, but then she would remind herself that if she truly fell for a scumbag like him, it would be a path to disaster.
Lambert subtly nodded, "Indeed."
Ariana couldn't stand his self-adulation and was about to push him away.
Unexpectedly, she heard a surprised voice, "What... what are you guys doing?"
Ariana froze instantly. It was Jane's voice.
Jane happened to come up from downstairs and saw Ariana was being held by Lambert. She looked at them, amazed.
Before she could think of how to react, she felt Lambert's hand press down her head, forcing her entire body to lean on his.
Lambert said in a low voice, "Don't open your eyes."
Ariana understood instantly and leaned against him softly.
Jane sensed something wrong, hurried over, and even deliberately screamed, "Sis, what happened to you?"
People around who heard the sound came to see and were taken aback to see Ariana fainting in Lambert's arms.
Just as Jane was about to touch the "unconscious" Ariana, Lambert subtly avoided it.
He held the person in his arms and calmly said to Jane, "Your fellow student has fainted. I'm going to take her to the medical room, please don't block the air circulation."
The cold voice was full of intimidation, and the students around, including Jane, found themselves instinctively stepping aside.
Despite closing her eyes, Ariana could somehow sense Lambert's completely different temperament, sensing a bit of a 'bolstering with borrowed authority' vibe.
After a while, she realized she had been carried to the medical room by Lambert. The school's nurse, Maeve Lawrence, who was doing her makeup in front of the mirror, saw this, and she could not help but tease, "Professor Stone, what happened?"
Lambert curled his lips, saying ominously, "Of course, it's the actor."
Seeing his demeanor, Ariana knew he must be planning something mischievous.
At that moment, the door of the medical room was banged opened, startling Maeve who was checking her reflection in the mirror, which she found somewhat intolerable.
"What are you doing? Do you think the door of the medical room is your own home's?"
The rushing Vincent, who lost his usual composure, saw the drawn curtain of the hospital bed as soon as he arrived. He sprinted straight to it, yanking it open with force.
Lying on the bed, Ariana looked at Vincent with a surprised expression, "Vincent? What brings you here?"
Lambert watched Vincent indifferently, a faint smile playing on his lips.
Vincent initially thought that the two were up to something with the curtain closed, but was somewhat embarrassed to see the actual situation upon opening it.
Following closely behind him, Jane also entered the medical room. Initially, she thought Vincent had come in a rage to catch adulterers, but the scene before her eyes was somewhat embarrassingly different.
Feigning surprise, Ariana asked, "What happened? Why are you both in such a hurry?"
From behind, a rather guilty-feeling Jane apologised, "I saw you faint, felt worried and couldn't help but tell Vincent to come to send you to the hospital."
Ariana’s beautiful eyes narrowed slightly as she replied quietly, "Is that so…"
Jane couldn't decipher whether Ariana was angry or feeling guilty, and her heartbeat inexplicably accelerated.
Actually, she had only told Vincent that Ariana had passed out and had been taken to the medical room by Lambert. But at this point, she didn't know what Vincent would think.
