Unexpectedly, Lambert saw through it.
"Rebel!" The Old Mr. Stone fiercely slammed his cane down on the ground, out of breath with anger.
Lambert ignored Beverly and walked over to Ariana. He took her hand and said, "If Grandpa doesn't approve of us, we'll just leave."
He spoke indifferently, showing not even the slightest bit of fear.
"Lambert!"
Seeing Lambert holding Ariana's hand, Beverly was so jealous that she gnashed her teeth. To her surprise, Lambert intended to leave with Ariana.
At the sound of her voice, Lambert paused briefly.
Beverly indignantly pointed at Ariana. "Lambert, your absence at the banquet has already embarrassed our families. Now are you going to abandon me for her?"
He calmly responded, "Miss Lawrence, a marriage is ideally consensual for both parties. Why put yourself through such misery?"
With that, he took Ariana and left.
Seeing Lambert walk away, Beverly's eyes reddened with anger. She angrily looked at the Old Mr. Stone.
"Grandpa, do you see how that woman has bewitched Lambert?"
The Old Mr. Stone watched the two depart with a serious expression and comforted Beverly, "Let it be. We shouldn’t rush things. Once he gets tired of her, Ariana will realize how terribly wrong she is."
After leaving the house, the two got into Lambert's car. Ariana looked at the calm Lambert and opened her mouth to question him about this situation but stopped herself thinking it was his private matter.
Recalling that he was hit by a teacup just now, she asked with some concern, "Does... Does your chest hurt?"
Lambert was taken aback, glancing sideways at her somewhat worried appearance, and asked in surprise, "Are you really worried about me?"
Ariana's brows furrowed inexplicably, "Why do you ask that?"
He stated, "Just now when I was hit, you didn't even glance my way."
Ariana scoffed, "Your little fiancée was already rushing up to you in worry, why should I add to the fuss?"
Lambert chuckled, "Can I take this as you being jealous?"
"No, you're overthinking." She denied it promptly.
Ariana wasn't pleased with Lambert having the upper hand in their verbal sparring, but recalling the teacup that had hit him quite heavily and how the tea seemed to be burning hot, she looked at the man who seemed unfazed and couldn't help but ask, "Do you have medicine in your car?"
Lambert was stunned momentarily, and looked at her meaningfully, "What kind of medicine do you need?"
His deep, obscure gaze seemed like he could see right through her.
Realizing the implication, she glared at him with a flushed face, "Lambert, speak properly! If you make another dirty joke, I'll... get out of the car!"
Saying this, she actually started to open the door to leave the car. Lambert reached out to stop her hand, saying, "Hold on!"
Looking at her irritated face, he chuckled and asked, "You always think I'm bullying you, but why don't you realize it's actually you who bullies me?"
"I'm bullying you?"
Ariana was at a loss of words, thrown off by his deflection.
Lambert stated seriously, "Of course."
Lambert did not refuse her demand. After all, he didn't want to endure the pain for too long.
When they arrived at the hospital, Lambert cooperated and took off his shirt, revealing his strong upper body. The nurse who was tending to him was blushing throughout the entire process.
From the side, Ariana watched, inwardly smacking her lips, well….
Lambert, with his fair skin and a delicate face that was distinctively male, exudes more of a scholarly, refined demeanor.
Who would have thought he would have such a nice body?
To be honest, she really wanted to touch him. Her intuition told her that it must feel really good.
Lambert always kept an eye on her, his gaze filled with suspicious intent.
The young nurse was quite close to Lambert and felt his pleasant scent. Her hands began to shake unconsciously.
He grunted and said helplessly, "Did you take money from that lady over there, intending to hurt me to death?"
The young nurse frightenedly shook for a moment, blushing, and hurriedly shook her head.
Ariana was pulled back to reality by his unfounded slander, glaring at him, "What nonsense are you talking about?"
However, she was more irritated when she saw the nurse was so bewitched by Lambert that she couldn't even apply medicine properly. Ariana said annoyedly to the nurse, "I'll do it for him."
The young nurse was stunned. She quickly handed the medicine to Ariana and left in a hurry.
Seeing the back of the young nurse who had left, Ariana said helplessly, "I suddenly feel that marrying you is like committing slow suicide."
