Han Dong didn’t know the girl’s name, only her surname was Yang. Coincidentally, this Yang Zhen was actually the cousin of the spoiled young lady Yang Yun whom Gu Junming had met. They were about the same age, but completely different in character.
Yang Zhen greeted her grandfather, went upstairs, took off her coat, and sat on the bed in a daze.
Yang Yun was sulking in the room, and when she saw her cousin return, she came over. Today, she was scolded by her grandfather for being immature, and he even told her to go to the military after New Year for training. When she complained to her father, he simply said: "When has your grandfather ever been wrong? Just follow his arrangements."
Yang Yun was unwilling to suffer in the military, couldn’t sleep, and knowing her cousin went for a matchmaking, she hurried over to ask about it.
Yang Zhen smiled: "Not good."
"What do you mean by ’not good’? Was it unsuccessful? You didn’t fancy him? I heard he hasn’t even graduated high school! What’s so great about him? If you don’t like him, don’t meet him anymore, even just giving him a glance is showing him respect."
Yang Zhen didn’t speak. How could she say that it was the other party who didn’t fancy her?
Han Dong was very handsome, although he seemed casual and carefree, he was full of elegance inside. And he was doing so well in business, so he was clearly clever, unlike anyone she had met before.
She fell for him the moment they met, but he didn’t like her. There was nothing she could do.
Yang Zhen was a smart person. Since Han Dong didn’t fancy her, she didn’t plan to keep in contact with him. She was just a bit unhappy; it was hard to find someone she liked, only to end like this.
Yang Yun snorted: "Don’t worry! You’re only twenty-four years old after New Year, why rush? It’s not like you can’t get married."
"My parents are anxious, too. They’re not your parents, they’re both in the military, with plenty of choices at hand. My conditions aren’t as good as yours. If I get older, it’ll be even harder to find a suitable one."
Yang Zhen’s parents were both esteemed intellectuals, which sounded nice but actually meant they were poor, not the kind of poverty where they couldn’t eat, but compared to those around them, they didn’t stand out.
Earlier, the gap between the two sisters wasn’t obvious, but in recent years, suitors for Yang Yun came in waves, while Yang Zhen’s side was desolate. Even with better character and looks than Yang Yun, people’s attention was still on Yang Yun.
Yang Yun felt pleased hearing this and laughed: "Don’t worry, cousin. I’ll tell my dad, and he’ll introduce someone from the military to you."
"Okay, thank you. It’s late, I should sleep. You should rest early too."
Yang Yun saw her cousin issuing a dismissal, but didn’t get angry. After a failed matchmaking, it was understandable, so she got up and left.
As she closed the door, she curled her lips. This cousin was inferior to her in every way, and now couldn’t even find a match, which added some disdain in her heart as she turned away.
Han Dong had found a restaurant, drank some sullen wine, and when he left, he passed by the hotel again, not wanting to leave. It was awfully cold, and driving wasn’t an option.
He happened to see Yang Liu instructing some night guards, preparing to rest.
"Don’t sleep too soundly. If someone comes to stay, quickly register them. There are still some rooms above the second floor; avoid letting anyone stay on the first floor, it’s not warm."
The night guards quickly agreed. Yang Liu was just about to go upstairs, unintentionally glanced up, and saw Han Dong standing there, feeling unexpectedly joyful, she quickly approached.
