"You really are a good girl, most girls couldn’t handle it."
"It’s nothing. Better focus on studying, the exams are coming up." Sun Chan didn’t really want to talk about this topic; she never thought of herself as that great.
Days like this went on for nearly two months, until Sun Chan finished her exams and the summer break started. The rain finally stopped, the surrounding floodwaters receded, and the whole city’s gloomy atmosphere was swept away.
There were also messages about soldiers like Gu Junming returning one after another.
Sun Chan waited for a few days but didn’t see anyone, feeling anxious, yet she didn’t dare show it. Everyone was watching her. If she got anxious, everyone around her - her parents, grandpa, Yang Zhen, Han Dong, and Wang Shufen - would also get anxious.
She could only smile and remain calm: "It’s okay, let’s wait patiently, he’ll be back."
The shop that Han Dong helped her set up was almost done, located in a city center store, looked quite nice, and wasn’t small in scale. The decoration was mainly pink, and the large double-sided glass near the street allowed people to see the products inside. This was all learned from Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Sun Chan designed over ten styles, and Han Dong chose seven or eight of them, along with those accumulated before, and applied for a patent brand, named it Kose Clothing Exclusive Store.
"Why call it Kose?"
Han Dong said; "I don’t know, aren’t many stars called something ’Silk’ now? This silk, that silk, and ’Kose’ is like ’standing out’."
Everyone was a bit bewildered, thinking the name was too random.
The brand was established, then came the personnel issue. Yang Liu stayed on Han Dong’s side. Her business skills were so-so, and she didn’t have much ambition. She got married and just wanted to have kids and live a normal life.
Yang Zhen was a teacher and didn’t have much time, but her design skills were quite good, so Han Dong often asked her to come by and take a look.
Guihua also invested thirty thousand yuan in the store, making her one of the shareholders. Her hotel was no longer the main business, so she took charge here. Sun Chan wasn’t good at dealing with customers, but Guihua was excellent at socializing.
In addition, a few good garment workers were hired, and the store was being set up in full swing.
Han Dong gave Sun Chan a task to design two outfits for a fashion show in the second half of the year.
Sun Chan agreed. This time, she designed winter clothes, which was quite challenging.
Han Dong patted her shoulder: "You have to do well; my factory’s profit depends on you."
"Hehe, got it." Sun Chan replied with a smile.
That evening, Sun Chan stayed up drawing several pages of designs until eleven o’clock before going to bed.
Now she lived with Wang Shufen, just not in the same room. Wang Shufen and her son slept in the guest room.
These days, Wang Shufen felt heartbroken seeing her sister-in-law looking so haggard. She had found a place and was ready to move out, but seeing Sun Chan like this, she wasn’t at ease, so she stayed.
Late at night, there was a knock on the door.
Gu Junming returned. He came directly here, as he thought Sun Chan wouldn’t stay at the family quarters while he wasn’t around.
Sun Chan woke up almost immediately, holding her breath to listen for a while. Realizing there were sounds outside, she was overjoyed, quickly got up without putting on shoes, and ran to open the door to see Gu Junming standing at the entrance.
He had specially had his hair done, shaved his beard, but was much darker and skinnier, with only a pair of eyes shining with determination. He looked at Sun Chan and smiled, showing a mouthful of white teeth, very distinct in the dark night.
Sun Chan, however, cried: "Why are you only coming back now?"
"There were some follow-up matters to deal with. Sorry, did I make you worry?" Seeing his little wife so upset, Gu Junming felt hurt too, cupping her face: "You’ve become so thin? What’s going on?"
"I was so worried. Look at you, you’re all skin and bones." She also touched Gu Junming’s face.
