Huo Jingrui wasn’t surprised to hear this; he was, after all, keenly aware of the girl’s capabilities. "Alright," he said, "I’ll have someone look into this matter."
Then, with a worried expression, he added, "However, you mustn’t be careless. I suspect the person behind that educated youth is no ordinary individual. The Qiao Family is likely just a pawn being used."
After giving it some thought, he continued, "It’s very possible that Qiao Shaoguo doesn’t even know what that person had his daughter do; after all, no one in the Qiao Family has medical knowledge."
Yunyi, however, disagreed, "That’s not necessarily true. It might be true that they don’t need medical knowledge, but the person pulling the strings must have been coveting those prescriptions for a long time and probably promised the Qiao Family quite a few benefits. Otherwise, why would Qiao Shaoguo personally write a letter?"
Huo Jingrui nodded. "Okay, I’ll have someone take a closer look at the Qiao Family."
Yunyi poured water from the thermos into the basin and went back to the room to wash up.
By the time she had tidied herself up, the steamed buns were also nicely warmed.
Fearing the tofu pudding would get cold, Huo Jingrui also placed the aluminum lunchbox on the steamer.
Seeing Yunyi come over, he said, "Hurry, eat while it’s hot."
Yunyi was truly hungry and asked, "Where did you buy this tofu pudding?"
Huo Jingrui, peeling an egg for her, replied, "There’s also a state-run restaurant over at Hua’an Farm Reclamation. I bought it there."
She understood then; people at Hua’an Farm Reclamation received salaries.
Huo Jingrui handed her the peeled egg. Everything felt so natural. As Yunyi reached for it, her fingers accidentally brushed against his large palm, sending a shiver through his heart.
After they finished eating, Huo Jingrui didn’t let her do anything. He quickly washed the lunchbox and chopsticks and filled the thermos with water that had been boiled on the other small stove.
Only then did he ask, "What should we do next?"

He actually wanted to take her away with him, but the girl had just been transferred here. If he suggested she leave, he feared she wouldn’t agree, so he could only rely on Qiao Shaoguo to look after her more.
