Seeing that Yunyi had made up her mind, Auntie Wei asked her daughter in a low voice, "Did you get the money back?"
Wei Hongyan quickly opened the military satchel she was carrying and took out the money, "It’s all here."
Auntie Wei took the money and went into the back room, then came back out, "Yunyi, since you’ve made up your mind, I won’t beat around the bush. Here’s eight hundred, count it."
The Wei Family was straightforward in their dealings, and Yunyi didn’t play coy. She counted the money in front of the Wei Family, "Exactly right. Let’s go and complete the procedures now."
Wei Hongyan was relieved to see things go smoothly, but the thought of Yunyi leaving for the village tomorrow left a bittersweet feeling in her heart, "Yunyi, thank you."
Yunyi gestured with the money in her hand, "Fair trade, no thanks needed."
Yunyi, wanting to avoid attracting the attention of the other neighbors in the large courtyard, said, "Uncle Wei, Auntie Wei, Hongyan, I’ll go home first to put away the money. Let’s meet at the alleyway entrance in a bit."
The Wei Family naturally understood Yunyi’s intentions, "Alright."
Yunyi left the large courtyard and put the money from her bag into her space. She didn’t go home, but instead headed straight for the entrance of the alley.
The handover procedures went very smoothly, but as soon as Wei Hongyan had finished the formalities, Sun Xiaoyan, who was supposed to cover for her, no longer had a position to fill.
Not wanting to cause gossip, Yunyi went to the dispensary to find Sun Xiaoyan herself.
The afternoon shift wasn’t too busy. When Sun Xiaoyan saw it was Yunyi, she got up, mentioned something to a colleague, and prepared to take Yunyi outside to talk. Yunyi, not wanting to draw a crowd, nodded in agreement.
Sun Xiaoyan pulled Yunyi to a corner outside the hospital, "Yunyi, are you here because of my Third Brother’s matter?"
A smile played at the corner of Yunyi’s mouth as she mockingly thought: I wasted so much time and effort to get him in there; why would I bother to rescue him? You really overthink things.
