Yunyi had a day off today and got ready early to make a trip to the county town.
A few days ago, she had received the quarterly rent from the residential committee, so she planned to withdraw the money today.
She had things to send to the Hua Family, Gu Family, and Wei Family, which she had prepared after returning from her master’s. Once in the county, she just needed to find a place to take them out.
She slung the basket on her back, locked the front door, and hurried off to the bus stop.
Unexpectedly, she ran into Du Yuhua from Songling Village at the bus stop. "Doctor Chu," Du Yuhua greeted.
Yunyi smiled and nodded at her. "What are you doing here?"
Pushing through the crowd, Du Yuhua reached Yunyi’s side. "My parental home is in Zhang Family Village. I am taking a ride back there."
"Did you bring Little Mao Dan?"
"He’s had a bit of a cough these past few days, so I didn’t bring him over."
Something came to mind, and she complained, "Ever since you transferred away, the village clinic has turned into a mere decoration. Doctor Gong took quite a fall last time, and he still hasn’t recovered. His family is worried he’ll end up with a chronic condition, so they don’t really want people disturbing his rest. Now, if anyone in the village is feeling unwell, they have to go to the commune health center."
On this matter, Yunyi didn’t feel it was right to comment. She just smiled and listened to her chatter.
At this point, Du Yuhua leaned closer to Yunyi and whispered, "Qiu Baojuan is getting married."
Yunyi was intrigued. "So soon?"
After looking around, Du Yuhua murmured, "She’s marrying Zhang Kuiwei from the Educated Youth Compound."
Upon hearing this, Yunyi knew something was amiss. "Did something happen?"
Du Yuhua lowered her voice even more. "Originally, Qiu Baojuan had set her sights on Liu Chenglin, but by a fluke, she ended up with Zhang Kuiwei, who didn’t even want to marry her.

That’s for sure, but she brought it all on herself, Yunyi thought.
