On the other side, Jiang Jingya was calculating the time, anticipating that the items would soon reach Yunyi’s hands. She quickly made a call to her son. "Hello, son, I sent some things to your significant other in your name a few days ago. When you have time, could you check with her to see if she received them and whether she likes them? If she does, Mom will send more later."
Huo Jingrui slightly frowned. "Mom, please don’t meddle in my relationship with Yunyi."
Jiang Jingya was displeased. "With you being busy all the time, if I don’t give you a hand, when will you be able to bring my daughter-in-law home?"
Just as Huo Jingrui was about to say something, someone knocked on the door of his office. "Deputy Regimental Commander, the Division Commander is looking for you."
Huo Jingrui nodded to the person to indicate he understood and then said into the phone, "Mom, I’ve got something to deal with here, I have to go."
Jiang Jingya quickly spoke into the phone. "Don’t forget to call that girl."
Right as he hung up the receiver, Huo Jingrui still responded, "Got it."
But no sooner had he hung up the phone than someone walked in. "Deputy Regimental Commander Huo, someone called the regiment looking for you a few days ago when you were on a mission," while handing over a piece of paper, "This is her message."
Huo Jingrui took the paper and glanced at it. Great, now even if I want to contact that girl, it’s likely I won’t be able to reach her anytime soon.
Pocketing the note, he strode toward the Division Commander’s office. "Reporting in."
A voice from inside responded, "Come in."
Huo Jingrui entered. "Division Commander, you wanted to see me."
Du Tianming pointed to the wooden sofa in front. "Sit."
He also walked over and sat across from him. "There’s been no new progress with the situation in Ji Province, just as we had speculated. Those unaccounted for are probably already in hiding."
Huo Jingrui spoke seriously. "What does that mean, Division Commander?"
