Soon, the waiter called them over, saying their food was ready.
Huo Jingrui didn’t let Yunyi lift a finger. He ran twice himself to bring over all the food they’d ordered. "Here, try this local braised pork with vermicelli noodles. The flavor is truly authentic."
He put some into her bowl and watched her eat before asking, "How is it?"
Yunyi nodded. "Not bad, indeed flavorful."
Seeing she enjoyed it, he then added more of the dishes Yunyi had previously ordered to her bowl. "Eat more."
The two chatted sporadically about recent events. Huo Jingrui then remembered a phone call from his mom a few days ago. "By the way, did you receive the package sent from Beijing?"
Hearing his question, Yunyi also remembered. That was indeed one of the reasons she had come today. "Yes, I did. Did you tell your family about us?"
Huo Jingrui looked at Yunyi seriously. "Yes, I’ve told my family about our situation, and my mom asked about your preferences."
Since it was a gesture from her future mother-in-law, Yunyi didn’t want to seem ungracious and accepted readily. "Please thank her for me, and let her know I really liked the gifts."
She didn’t plan on accepting these gifts without reciprocating; a return gift was necessary. "Having received so much, I’ve naturally prepared some return gifts. Tell me about your parents’ and sister’s preferences."
Huo Jingrui was naturally overjoyed by Yunyi’s words. He held nothing back, answering her questions and explaining everything he knew as meticulously as possible.
Finally, he added, "So, do I get a gift too?"
Yunyi glared at him playfully. "What do you think?"
Seeing her like this, Huo Jingrui knew he definitely had something coming his way.
He didn’t know why, but even though he and Yunyi hadn’t known each other for long, he always felt a deep sense of familiarity with her. He felt he could understand her every word and action.
After finishing their meal, they headed together towards the Mechanical Plant Family Courtyard.
