Rebirth: The Courtyard Bride Is Cool and Radiant novel Chapter 58

Chapter 58: Chapter 58: It’s not certain that one may have to become a grandfather without becoming a father first

Watching his mother ramble on, Huo Jingrui couldn’t help but curl the corners of his mouth into a smile. His mother liked to cook but truly lacked the talent for it, a fact well-known throughout the compound.

Back when they were children, that little rascal Liu Cheng had tagged along and suffered plenty from her cooking. It must have left a psychological scar on him.

Jiang Jingya served her son a bowl and said, "Son, drink it while it’s hot. It’ll taste fishy once it cools."

As her son took the bowl, Jiang Jingya sat down next to him. "Son, I’ve asked the doctor. After you’re discharged this time, you’ll need to rest for a while before you can return to the troop."

Before she could finish, Huo Jingrui interrupted her, "Mom, just get to the point."

Jiang Jingya’s eyes twinkled with amusement. "My son is so clever."

She cleared her throat softly. "In the compound, those around your age already have children running all over the place. I’m not trying to push you, but if you don’t hurry up, all the good girls will be taken."

She kept an eye on her son’s reaction as she said, "Why not use this time to go on some blind dates? You might find someone who catches your eye. What do you think?"

Huo Jingrui remained silent, but when his mother brought up matchmaking, he couldn’t help but think of the girl who had saved him that day. He felt like he had seen her somewhere before but just couldn’t remember. These past few days, he had asked Liu Cheng to inquire about her, but the people she had been with had all been killed by those desperate thugs, and their identities were still being investigated. Considering the situation back then, it seemed unlikely she was one of them. He just hoped she was safe.

After finishing the last mouthful of fish soup, he passed the bowl back. "Mom, there’s no rush on this matter. Besides, I won’t settle when it comes to my marriage. I’ve told you that before."

Jiang Jingya didn’t want to force her son, but he was already twenty-five. Any more delays, and when would she ever hold a grandchild? "Son, I agree that you shouldn’t settle, but if you don’t meet anyone, where will your wife come from? Even your nephew Xiaodong is in a relationship now, and who knows, they might start discussing marriage soon. If you don’t act quickly, you might become a grandfather before you’re a father."

Sleeping on the table was truly awful, not to mention the snoring in the room. If it hadn’t been for the constant lack of free time since she’d arrived, she probably wouldn’t have been able to sleep at all.

Today, she absolutely had to get the Branch Secretary to find more people to help fix up the house. Another night like this, and she feared she’d break down.
