Emily, you really should’ve asked Byron first. This isn’t a game, and if you don’t get it, you shouldn’t just answer for him!” Bianca almost couldn’t hold back her laughter. Emily was so nalve. She must think this is just a casual competition with no real consequences.

Byron was about to agree anyway. Since Emily answered for him, he wouldn’t let Blanca mock her. ‘Ms. Johnson and I are on the same page. I was gonna answer, and she did it for me. What’s it to you? I just can’t stand how you always pretend to be helpful but end up making decisions for others. Bianca, you’re the last person who should be talking.”

Byron’s retort left Bianca’s face pale. Her eyes reddened, on the verge of tears. “I’m sorry, James, Finn. I shouldn’t have spoken out of turn. Even though Emily doesn’t like me, I can’t help but think of our family ties.”

“It’s not your fault, you don’t need to apologize!” Finn quickly interjected, looking at Emily. “Since you answered for Byron, why not raise the stakes a bit? Byron, you don’t mind, do you?”

“No way! Mr. Smith is bound to lose. Why should we raise the stakes?” Colt protested, worried.

Byron hesitated for a moment. Finn smirked, “If you know you’re gonna lose, why not just admit defeat? Then I won’t mention any

stakes.”

Emily’s gaze fixed on James. “Finn suggested raising the stakes. What do you think?”

James was surprised Emily would ask that. He thought she was calm because she didn’t know his skills. She probably didn’t even know the rules of racing, so she dared to ask him. He wanted to show her just how much better he was than Byron.

“If it’s a race, there should be stakes!” James said firmly.

Bianca’s palms were sweaty. She quickly thought about suggesting a stake that would benefit her if they won. She was sure Byron would lose. “James, if we’re talking stakes, how about 5% of the Reyes Group’s shares?”

James considered it. “Alright!” He looked at Byron, or rather, at Emily beside him. Emily didn’t seek Byron’s approval. “Regular races are boring. Let’s make it more challenging.”

Everyone’s eyes turned to Emily, as if asking, “Do you know what you’re saying?” They all thought she was speaking out of ignorance. Emily continued, “How about a team race? I’ll ride shotgun with Byron. As for you, James? Will Bianca join you, or will Finn take her place?”

She wanted to force Bianca into the race. Bianca’s face turned even paler. If she refused, she’d be admitting she was scared, giving Emily a reason to mock her in the future, Bianca didn’t want that. She grabbed James’s hand, pretending to be brave. “James, I’ll race with you. I’m not afraid.”

Finn was worried. “No, I’ll go. Bianca, your health…”

“Finn, with James, I won’t be afraid. My body can handle that,” Bianca insisted.

Emily chuckled coldly. “Bianca says she’s fine. Her illness seems to come and go as she pleases. Since it’s settled, James, could you let the organizers know to change the rules?”

James had to use the Smith family’s name, as he always did. Emily was putting him in a position where he had to do it. Since he requested the change, he couldn’t refuse Emily’s condition. “Fine, I’ll go. Wait here!”

James’s face was dark, as he was not pleased about replacing Finn. Emily watched him make the call, satisfied. Finn was furious. “Emily, you’re truly vile. Raised outside, you’ve forgotten your roots, always bullying Blanca. Do you think this will make the family love you? No way! You won’t surpass Bianca. You’re only here because she needs you.”

“What do you mean? If Bianca doesn’t let Ms. Johnson live, she can’t? Such a family isn’t worth it. Ms. Johnson, come to the Reyes family. You’ll be the only princess there!” Byron snapped.

He was spoiled but not inherently bad. His words touched Emily. So, she was born because Bianca needed her umbilical cord blood. And she was brought back because Bianca might need a bone marrow transplant. Finn knew from the start.
