Aiden sneered at Emily, clearly embarrassed, especially when James was present. Fine, fine, let’s see what happens to you when the Johnson family is not backing you!”
Emily couldn’t care less.
Just then, her phone rang. It was Aaron.
“Hey, what’s up?

“Emily, the fake doctor you asked me to keep an eye on is coming to Silverlight City tomorrow to treat Aurora. Bianca and James should be there, and of course, Chase won’t miss it.”
“Got it. Send me the address and time. I’ll go myself tomorrow.”
Emily stepped aside to take the call, getting the information from Aaron.
Meanwhile, James and Aiden, feeling ignored, decided to leave. Aiden was eager to get James involved in the AI project and didn’t want to waste more time with Emily.
After hanging up, Emily saw everyone had left and invited Terry to grab a bite.
Unexpectedly, they ran into Byron and Sophia at the restaurant.
Byron was shielding Sophia, seemingly in a confrontation with someone. The person opposing them was a delicate–looking woman, reminiscent of Bianca. A group of men surrounded her, pointing fingers at Sophia and taunting Byron.
Byron, with his fiery temper, rolled up his sleeves, ready to throw punches.
“Sophia, if your parents knew you were hanging out with people like this, they’d be heartbroken. They’ve invested so much in you, how can you let yourself fall like this?” Niamh Brown spoke as if she were concerned for Sophia.
Byron sneered, “What about me? When I was making money, you were probably still asking your family for handouts!”
Since earning two million dollars, Byron spoke with confidence. Many in their circle knew he no longer relied on family money, though some doubted it. But his swagger and his followers‘ acknowledgment gradually convinced everyone.
Sophia, aware of how Byron got the money, twitched at his bragging. But she wouldn’t expose him since he was protecting her.
“Two million dollars? Who cares? And who knows if it’s clean money? Only someone as naive as Sophia would fall for your tricks. Byron, you can mess with other girls, but leave Sophia alone.”
Niamh stood tall, unafraid of Byron.
Men liked her for various reasons: her modesty, her unyielding nature, or her aloof charm. She knew Byron, accustomed to being pampered, might prefer girls who resisted him.
Sophia scoffed, “We don’t need your fake concern. You’re not welcome here, so leave!”

Niamh’s eyes welled up, stubbornly staring at Sophia without leaving. She subtly exposed her delicate neck and face, ensuring Byron could see her clearly.
Emily and Terry watched the scene unfold.
Terry, noticing Emily’s interest, whispered, “That girl may look innocent, but she’s cunning. See how she positions herself to attract the guy she’s supposedly arguing with? It’s all a ploy.”
Emily glanced at Terry, intrigued. “You seem to know a lot. Have you encountered someone like this?”
Terry blushed,
Emily understood. Indeed, women could easily spot such tricks, but many men fell for them.
Emily decided to wait and see if Byron would take the bait.
Byron, however, was focused solely on making money, uninterested in women.
“You can insult me, but not my friends. What are you, anyway? And you guys, can’t you see she’s just a manipulative woman? Are you
blind?‘
He seemed to forget how Bianca had once manipulated him.
“Ms. Johnson!” Sophia’s excited shout drew everyone’s attention to Emily.
Niamh had heard of Emily but never paid her much mind, considering her a disgrace to the Johnson family. She was surprised to see
Sophia so happy to see Emily.
Sophia ran to Emily, while Niamh shook her head, “Sophia has really fallen, associating with someone like Emily, who was disowned by the Johnson family. I’ll have to inform her parents.”
Her words were meant for Byron and those around her. Being disowned suggested Emily had done something terrible, making people look
at her with disdain.
Byron was furious.
Before anyone could react, he slapped Niamh across the face.
He shook his hand, as if it hurt, I usually don’t hit women, but you really deserved it.”
Ignoring the stunned crowd, he hurried to Emily, “Ms. Johnson, what a coincidence! Are you here to see us?”
He glanced at Terry beside Emily, feeling alarmed.
Trying to edge Terry out, he said, “Ms. Johnson, did you see that? That woman is just as annoying as Bianca. I couldn’t help myself.”
