Ella bit her bottom lips and shook her head slightly, "I-It’s fine... I am sorry for making a mess of myself..." As she spoke, she squeezed some more teardrops.
’Clang’ A hand slammed against the coffee table, startling everyone.
"Girl, if you have something to say, say it! If you act like a pushover, people will treat you like one!" Old Master King, who had been silent up until this point, finally spoke up.
Chairman Caine gave his friend a side-eyed look that screamed—’Oh who said they were here just for the drama without having any intentions of getting involved in it?’
Ella froze. She did not really think he would speak up for her.
Rubbing her nose, Ella turned to the man, "Thank you, this kind Grandpa..." she bowed to him.
Chairman Caine straightened up, expecting her to thank him for his presence too.
But Ella looked past him.
Chairman Caine’s old face fell. Hey, hey, little girl, I was here to support you too!
On the other hand, Ella cut to the chase—
"Sir," Ella looked at the Dean, "I want Professor Jenny to apologize to me."
Dean Mo nodded and turned to Jenny, "Quickly, apologize—"
"Publicly," Ella ended.
The room turned silent.
Under everyone’s strong gaze, Ella trembled like a delicate flower surviving through the stormy winds, "These past few months, I have been picked on constantly. People have cornered me, spread heinous rumors about me, and constantly hurled abuses at me in one way or another."
"Words do more damage to a person than weapons ever can," A cold glint flickered in Ella’s eyes when her gaze passed by Jenny.
Jenny shivered under that gaze.
When Ella looked at Dean Mo and the rest, more tears rolled down her cheeks like clockwork with one tremble here, another there, "I am worried that I can no longer take this much of negativity. It drains me, mentally and physically."
"Professor Jenny cannot apologize to you publicly," Dean Mo said resolutely, "In ancient times, the reverence to one’s parents, elders and teachers have been absolute. You want your professor to apologize to you? Where is your filial piety?"
He had no issues with Jenny apologizing to this brat in private but if she apologized in public, what about his face? People here believed she was his daughter, in one way or another, she was related to him. And not to mention, it concerned the reputation of his university.
"Reverence to one’s parents, elders and teachers should be absolute. But what if the said people are in the wrong? Do we still not question them while they misuse their authority?" Ella looked at Dean Mo coldly.
For one moment, Dean Mo felt like the girl could see through all his intentions.
Yet, in the next moment, Ella shivered, "But I have no hard feelings against Professor Jenny. The reason I want a public apology from her is because I want to protect myself."
"Protect yourself?" It was Chairman Caine who could no longer hold his curiosity.
The girl was not holding a grudge but her intentions seemed rather vengeful. Yet, she was saying that she wanted to protect herself?
