"Miss Yu, you don’t seem to be well.’’

Lilith’s voice snapped Ella out of her trance and she tamped down the uneasy feeling in her chest.

"Are you familiar with my secretary? This is Eli," Lilith turned to the man, "Eli, this is Miss Yu."

"We are meeting each other for the first time, I believe," Ella smiled at the man who nodded in return.

Ella had never seen the man before, in both her lives. But from the looks of it, he seemed to be working for Lilith.

Yet, for some reason, his aura was beyond that of a secretary or an assistant.

"Oh, she is Ace’s current girlfriend,’’ Lilith said to Eli, like that was the highlight of Ella’s identity.

She did it graciously but how could Ella not notice the hidden dagger in those words?

’Current girlfriend’ Which partner in the world would be happy to be introduced as their partner’s ’current’?

It was just a gracefully poisonous way of saying that: You’re a temporary toy. Just one in the line.

And Ella would’ve taken the bait, if she hadn’t known better.

Knowing the information regarding Adrian’s elder brother, Ella had no doubts that Adrian had been to the auction house yesterday to look into it, not to mingle with Lilith.

And that made her ponder over her emotional outburst after she saw Adrian and Lilith together.

She had known better than anyone that he had never been involved with any other woman. In her previous life, she would have been relieved had he gotten himself a mistress or wife and kicked her out.

But nothing like that ever happened as if she was the only one from the female species who had emotional and romantic access to the rare delicacy called ’Princess Adrian’.

Ella stopped the trail of her thoughts and received the golden box from Lilith’s hand, "For me?"

Lilith nodded, "Open it."

As Ella opened it, two lustrous pills entered her view.

"I went to an auction together with Ace last night. When I came across these beautifying pills, I couldn’t help but think of getting them over for you..."

"I am not dissatisfied with my looks so I barely have any use for this."

As Ella extended her hand to return the box, Lilith did not receive it, "Miss Yu, since the day I saw you for the first time, you have been losing weight rapidly. I have heard it ruins your features in the long run. You should keep it, lest you regret it in the future..." Lilith trailed off when Ella pulled out her phone and after punching a few keys, pressed it against the ear.

While at it, Ella looked at Lilith with an innocent smile. On the second ring, the call was answered and a deep ’Hello’ greeted her ears, making her nerves tingle for a split-second.

"Baby, how do I look?" Ella put the phone on speaker the moment she asked the question.

Lilith’s eyes narrowed.
