"You are zoning out. Again," As soon as Professor Grimwood left the class, Kade turned to Ella.

"Is everything alright?" Ruby asked.

Ella sighed. It has been more than three days since she came back from Country A, alone.

In Country Z, everything seemed to be just as she had left them. Except, she had not seen Esther in the university for days.

Everything seemed to be going fine yet Ella’s heart was at a little unrest.

In the three days, Ella had not received a single text from Adrian, let alone a call. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

That day, she did not get a proper answer to the question that she had asked Ji Yan.

Adrian’s mother, just like before, remained wrapped like a mystery.

Kade was Adrian’s half brother and so she doubted his relationship with Mrs. King would be a conventional one.

Ella opened her mouth to speak but after a moment, she closed her mouth.

Kade’s brows twitched, "The past few days, I feel like you want to say something to me but you are holding back..."

He trailed off, his eyes widening.

Within an instant, he crossed his arms in front of his chest, "Don’t tell me you fell for me? Ella, you...!"

His voice was not too loud but not too low either.

The girls who were sitting nearby glared daggers at Ella.

"I don’t want to sit beside you."

Before Ella could move away, Kade tugged her down on the seat and made a begging face at her.

Ella received another round of glares from the girls, making her heart ache.

After the results, the seating arrangements were changed according to the scores.

Yet, Kade charmed Ella’s new seatmate and managed to reserve the seat beside Ella. He had three reasonings:

He could keep an eye on Ella on his brother’s behalf, so she won’t go around seducing men and women.He had a doubt that she used some unconventional methods to do well in exams so he could uncover it.

But Ella and Ruby both knew there was a third reason that Kade did not mention and that was the real reason behind his sneaky seat switch campaign.

Kade wanted to get rid of the birds and bees surrounding him so he used Ella as the perfect shield.

"You see, I was just being cautious... I mean..." Kade whispered in Ella’s ears, his gaze darting around, "Brother finally released some of my cards after seeing my results this time. If you fall for me, won’t I need to shave my head and become a monk to get my cards again?"

Ella glared at him so hard that two daggers could pierce through his skull with that one look, "Your brother is taller, richer, hotter and a hundred times better-looking than you, and you think I will fall for someone like you?"

Ruby and Ella: "_" Is that the point here?

After the classes, the three of them walked out together.

As soon as he reached the gates, Kade got into his flashy red sports car and winked at the duo, "Bye, ladies!"

Ella rolled her eyes. The man really returned to his golden goose era, laying eggs everywhere once he got the money.
