The car rolled out of the Eve Mansion gates at a normal pace, to not arouse the servants’ suspicion.
But by the time they reached the front driveway, Ji Yan’s car was already gone.
"Where now?" Ruby asked.
"Maple Cross," Ella responded without hesitation.
Ruby swerved into the main road, weaving through traffic as they headed toward the junction.
Meanwhile, Ella’s mind was ticking like a second-hand clock.
Earlier, when she had called Ji Yan to ask for bodyguards, she had tried to tap Ji Yan’s phone during the call. But the man was fast enough to respond and cut off all the connection.
However, before the connection went off, one street popped up repeatedly, catching Ella’s attention—Maple Cross.
And if she was right and Ji Yan did pass by that road then...
Ella’s gaze flicked up ahead.
Ji Yan will have no choice but to slow down, given that the road should be a traffic nightmare around this time. He would be stuck there for at least about 15 minutes.
Seeing the solemn look on Ella’s face, Ruby spoke up, "Sit tight."
In the next moment, the flashy red sports car cut through the crowd with precise movements, moving in a blur.
"We are here..." Ruby slowed the car as they rolled into the intersection.
Ella leaned forward slightly. Her eyes scanned the line of cars until—
"There," she pointed. "Black SUV, tinted windows. Three cars up."
"Alright."
On the other side...
Inside the black SUV, Ji Yan’s phone buzzed suddenly.
An ominous feeling rose in his chest when he saw the caller ID, "Bertha, is everything alright with Miss Yu?"
"Secretary Ji, I have just called to report that Miss Yu and Miss Ambrose said they’re heading out for a long drive."
Ji Yan’s fingers froze over the wheel.
Instinctively, his eyes darted to the rearview mirror.
And sure enough—
A familiar limited edition blazing red sports car caught his attention.
Without wasting another second, Ji Yan took the next sharp turn, detouring through a narrow lane.
...
"He noticed us," Ruby muttered, hands tightening on the steering wheel.
"Be careful," Ella whispered as her eyes trailed Ji Yan’s car.
The man fluidly cut through the streets just like the last time.
The only difference was that last time, the driver from the Eve Mansion lost sight of Ji Yan in two alleys.
Yet, Ruby did not seem to slow down in the slightest.
She made a clean turn, slipping the car through two honking sedans, effortlessly catching up.
Every swerve Ji Yan made, Ruby matched.
Ella gripped the door handle as Ruby curved through alleyways and sudden exits.
