Ella smiled, batting her eyelashes at Adrian. Inwardly, she was a little excited for the game.
Lately, she had been cooped up in the Eve Mansion, studying and stressing about promoting ’Lilac’ products. Not to mention her deadly workout sessions.
This felt like the perfect situation to de-stress.
Moreover—
Ella’s gaze scanned across the people in the living room.
Adrian, Ronan, Ruby... It would surely be amusing to play games with such ’special’ players.
Ella mentally gave Kade a ’thumbs up’.
And just like that, the room shifted again.
The servants followed Kade’s instructions and fluttered about the place.
Cushions were adjusted, the coffee table pushed aside.
Adrian slid in beside beside Ella without a word, his thigh brushing hers just enough to make her blush.
Ruby sat beside Kade, deliberately avoiding the weight of Ronan’s gaze.
Ronan stayed aloof, choosing the single-seater like it offended him less.
The lights were dimmed completely and the fire crackled in the fireplace.
The wind outside grew louder, leaking in through barely-sealed windows.
Kade stood up and murmured, "One sec," He walked up to Bertha and said something to her.
Ronan watched him go, suspicion evident. "What games exactly? This feels like a setup for a seance."
Moments later, Kade returned, holding a single item.
An empty wine bottle along with some alcohol shots on a huge tray.
He twirled it once between his fingers and set it down in the center of the circle with a mischievous glint in his eye.
"Truth or Dare," he said simply.
’Clang’
’Whir’
Kade spinned the bottle in the center of the coffee table as he took a seat next to Ruby.
The bottle twirled, catching the low light of the fire until it pointed at—
Kade.
Ronan chuckled, "It seems the Third young master is high on luck tonight."
Kade rolled his eyes, leaned back on his elbows, "Alright, people, truth. I am choosing the truth."
Ronan arched a brow at the man, "That’s a surprising choice on your part? Are you not afraid of accidentally spilling your secrets?"
"Try me, Knight," Kade shot him a provocative gaze, swinging his hand on the couch.
Ronan’s gaze momentarily lingered on Kade’s hand that was resting on the couch, right behind Ruby’s neck. And his eyes darkened.
"Do you like someone currently?" Ronan glanced at Kade.
"Yes," Kade answered without batting an eyelid.
Ronan’s brows tugged together.
Both Ella and Ruby glanced at Kade in surprise.
Kade shrugged his shoulders, "You are not allowed to ask me a backup question haha!" With that, he twirled the bottle again.
The bottle spinned and when it stopped, it pointed at Ruby.
Kade rubbed his palms and turned to her, "Truth or dare?"
Ruby lifted her gaze and looked at Ronan who was sitting across on the single couch, "Truth," she said, calmly shifting her gaze away.
"Say, how many times have you thought of dumping that fiance of yours?"
The moment the words left Kade’s mouth, silence crashed over the room.
By this point, it was no secret that Max has cheated countless times on Ruby. And no matter how one saw it, Ruby deserved a guy who was a million times better.
Yet, with their engagement still on, nobody expected Kade to voice out the question.
Ronan did not take his eyes off Ruby as he observed her every move, every subtle shift in her expression, if any.
