Snatching a vase from the corner, Ella smashed it against the windowpane of the door.
As the glass shattered, Ella tried to push open the door, only to realize that there was a lock hanging outside.
Ella hurriedly pulled a thin hairpin out of her hair.
Shards rained down as she shoved her arm through, ignoring the sting of glass.

’Crash’
The lock landed on the floor.
The door creaked open.
Relief washed through her like a wave and she staggered forward. But her steps faltered almost instantly when she spotted Adrian approaching her with steady steps.
Ella winced internally and mentally prepared herself to face the man...
But just then, she realized that something was amiss.
Adrian’s posture did not seem as steady and he was enshrouded in a ferocious aura. She flinched when she met his eyes, crimson and indecipherable.
Ella took a small step back, slowly letting her gaze travel down. And it was then that she saw a trail of blood behind Adrian as he strode towards her.
Her eyes widened and a suffocating pressure built in her heart. But before she could say a word, she was pulled into a familiar embrace, "You are fine..." Adrian kissed the crown of her hair, "You are fine."
"I... I am fine," Ella didn’t know how she managed to find her voice.
"Adrian, what happened..." As the man hugged her tighter, Ella raised her hand to hug him back.
But her entire body froze when she felt a wet sensation on her palms.
When she raised her hand, her palm was covered in Adrian’s blood.
Ella inhaled a shaky breath, pushing down the suffocating thoughts that rose in her heart.
"Come... Let’s go," she tugged at Adrian’s hand.
The man did not release her. Instead, his head slumped into the crook of her neck and his entire weight pressed down on her.
Ella staggered a few steps back. Tears rolled down her cheeks as she supported him with both her hands.
With all these injuries, he managed to stay conscious just to find her?
The thought made her heart twist.
"Stop them!"
Ella hadn’t even turned to leave when the guards covered the entire hall of the Yu Mansion, blocking every path to the main door.
Ella’s face hardened.
She supported Adrian to a nearby chair and helped him down as her gaze traced over the people in the hallway.
Ella’s gaze briefly paused on Esther who was standing at the door, stark naked, barely wrapped in a sheet before her eyes landed on her mother who lowered her gaze.
Ella turned to Mr. Yu, "I should have known from the very beginning."
Mr. Yu frowned, "Who are you using that sarcastic tone with? Apologize!"
