"I was worried you wouldn’t accept me if I revealed there are no ties between me and my family," Ella said in a heartbeat.

In reality, back then, she only wanted to tackle Adrian, without entangling much with him. As for the Old Lady, she had wanted to be sincere with her due to the mistakes she made in her past life.

At that time, she had never dreamt that things with the Yu Family would come to this point.

"You... Even then, there is no reason for the both of you to live together," Old Master King frowned, "If others in the family come to know of this, they would worry about Adrian’s marriage and start badgering him again."

With a heavy sigh, the old man looked at Adrian and Ella,"Both of you cannot be living under the same roof when you are not a married couple."

A hint of annoyance flickered in Adrian’s eyes. He looked like he was about to say something but in the end, he did not.

It did not happen as often that Adrian King hesitated from speaking his mind.

The conflict, the subtle shift in his expression, it was very minute.

But it did not escape Ella’s observant gaze.

While Adrian was lost in his thoughts, he suddenly froze, feeling a soft palm holding his hand.

At first, the grip was soft but then it gradually tightened.

Adrian tilted his head down, looking at the girl who was gazing at his grandparents in determination.

Old Master King and Old Madam King stared at their entangled hands, their expressions changing subtly.

"Little girl, do you think we are not here anymore?" Old Master King leaned forward, his eyes narrowing.

Ella lowered her head slightly, "It is not my intention to disrespect you in the slightest. You are Adrian’s grandparents and I see you like my own. But..."

She met their gazes as she enunciated each word, "It is unfair that Kade is allowed to live his life freely while Adrian must remain shackled."

There was a pin drop silence in the place. The old couple was stunned, clearly not expecting such words from the girl.

Adrian glanced at her side profile. And for a moment, he could feel her heartache for him.

Her words echoed in his head again and again. And slowly the icicles around his heart melted a little, creating a gentle ripple.

Ella seemed unbothered by the eerie silence or the impact her words brought on the people present over there.
